    Foscam C1 V2 IP Camera BIOS/Firmware Help

    Hello,

I am not sure if someone can help me with this or not. I am hoping someone can.

I have a client who brought me a Foscam C1 V2 IP Camera after they disconnected power to the device during the middle of a firmware upgrade because they got impatient and thought it was frozen, so they disconnected the power despite a warning message telling them not to do that. Currently the device shows the power LED when connected to power, but it doesn't complete it's boot process and the camera is inaccessible on the network through Foscam's App for Android or the Windows application.

I disassembled the camera and found that it uses a MX25L12835F BIOS chip. I used my programmer to take an initial dump of this chip and saved it to my computer. That original dump is attached to this post below. It is 16,384KB in size.

The latest firmware for this camera can be downloaded at Foscam's website. I downloaded the zip file from there and extracted the contents. Which contains the following 2 files: (which are also attached below)

    FosIPC_E_app_ver2.x.2.50.bin - 13,403KB
    FosIPC_E_sys_ver1.9.3.18.bin - 12,732KB

I briefly looked at these two files in a hex editor and compared it to my dump and to be honest, I really don't know what I am looking for here. I thought I would post here and see if someone knows how to rebuild a working BIOS image I can flash back to the chip to hopefully fix this camera.

I thought about posting this over at the Desktop/Laptop motherboard BIOS section because there are multiple users who frequent those sections who are well-versed in BIOS editing and may know exactly what to do. I don't know if those same users frequent this section that it technically is best suited to be posted under, but mods, if you feel it would be better over there, please feel free to move it to the appropriate section.

Thank you in advance for your help!
