Here's something different. A Xerox multifuntion printer/copier/fax.
Model P220 a.k.a. Phaser 3200 a.k.a. Samsung somemodelerother
THis is from a field office, and I was told that the original symptom was it stayed at "warming up" so I suspected a fuser problem, then it just wouldn't power on, makes a ticking sound.
I'll probably replace it, but told them to send it to me anyway.
Smells like a power supply issue to me, LCD doesn't come on, speaker makes a faint ticking sound, and the fan(s) cycle on/off in time with the ticking.
Disassembling finds the power supply with 1 bloated cap. a 1500uf @ 10v
It measures 100uf and 5ohms esr out of circuit.
Replaced it, checked a few others, and the supply output on the bench is 5v and 24v as it should be, but not under any great load....
Will pop it back in tomorrow and see.
I'm not 100% sure it's not a problem with a shorted component in another board, but the rest are buried deep inside this thing, so hoping not.
