Troubleshooting 2xFailed Cooler Master v650 PSUs

I have a couple of these PSUs that have the exact same issue on both of them. I find it odd that they both exhibit the same Symptoms.

When plugged into the PC, the PSUs are able to power the LEDs inside the motherboard (the standby 5v circuit I suppose?) But as soon as the power button is hit, the PSU powers on for a split second, then there is a (relay?) click and the PSU shuts off. Hitting power does nothing after unless the power is removed and then turned on again.

I have a PSU tester which has the same results. As soon as the tester plugs in, it powers on for a split second, and then there's the click and it's off. Turning off the power switch does nothing. If I remove and replug the 24(?)pin power cable though, it does do the click on and off.

I opened the PSU and looked inside, but cannot see any signs of failure.
I noted a relay: 307H-1AH-FC 12V=DC that I believe is making the clicks.

Any ideas of how to diagnose further?

check the output diodes - it may be detecting a short circuit.

      Thank you.
I'm new to electronics repair. Where would I locate the output diodes? There appear to be 4 or 5 diodes on the board.
Would I need to remove the diodes to test them?

try to take closer pictures - specially the 2 matching vertical boards

Thanks so much for your help.
I've attached some photos from around the board including the vertical boards (I didn't see any diodes around there though). I've taken photos of areas where I can spot a diode

i think i know what they did.
check ZD6, check all the transistors bolted to heatsinks,
get the board out of the shell and see whats soldered to the other side.

i think they are using mosfets instead of diodes.

Is it me or does this cap look suspicious?

                Not really...
                You need to start measrunging...
                Try looking for shorts.
Polymer caps fail that way for example...

Cooler Master ATC-S + Some other CoolerMaster Case - 2-fer in 1 Thread
                  by Topcat
This is a Coolermaster case double-header.... The reason this one didn't get added to my 'misc build' thread is becasue the Cooler Master ATC-S aluminum case....That case is a class-act way above & beyond anything in that thread! However, we have to get through a mediocre build to get to the treasure!

...but here's the two Cooler Master cases in question; both of which were drop-offs for recycling.... The one on the left, I'm not really sure what model it is. It's nothing overly special, but it is well-made. The one on the right is an ATC-S solid aluminum, best I can determine...

Cooler Master 500W atx psu repair. Total cannot start at all
                  by anikin73
I am attempting to repair this. Circuit is quite simple, but i a quite stuck at it for a long time. so today i try to ask for new ideas. my challenge is to under stand what mistake i made. I had repaired not lesson than 50 pcs of various brands ATX psu . main pwm chip is Cm 6805 Sip 9 .
5VSB is fine. When I short Pson, totally nothing happen. I check , the Cm 6805 VCC pin2 did have 16v, But totally nothing happen. I changed to a good chip from another good PSU. Same thing.
What other pin should I check such that it will result in no start up at all ?

ATX PSU Cooler Master RS-700-pcaa-e3 shutting off after 5 seconds
                  by dariolana
Got this from my kid with a fault on primary side. Main power supply here is AC 220V. All caps were Ok, testing with 2 series lamp of 70W each, got a bright lamp . Checked main heatsink one by one with my component tester and found one 3 leg buddy MDP18N50 that passed away. Got same replacement after a week, tested, short was gone, now I got 310V on primary.

Happy as a dog, added one case fan for some load and the fan of the PSU. Tested purple wire, got 5.1V, great!. Shorted green and black, fan spins and after about 5 seconds shuts down. I was able to measure doing several iterations...

Cooler Master 1200W Silent Pro Gold - Bad power switch
                  by tony359
                  Hi all,

The PSU in question had a bad power switch. There was not physical feedback when switching on and - if memory serves - it was always ON even when in OFF position.

I researched a bit and got some replacements.

The replacement "got stuck" at first power up - as in "it's now always on".

It looks like this PSU has a pretty large inrush current as my lights flicker when I turn it on with no load.

Probably the switches I got are bad quality but I was wondering if someone could recommend a good replacement?...
