I would have use 100V rating minimum. The caps are exposed to about 78 peak Voltage.

Probably best to use 100v one to limit damage in future cases mate.

Can I use the ones installed for testing purposes as wont get replacements till Monday

You can leave them out for testing purpose. The cap are there for to reduce Diode switching noise.

Ok Maplins only have 2 100v 0.1uf caps !!

As I need four can I use higher voltage ones? Say 125v or 150v and mix and match?

The 2SC1815 & 2SA1015 and the Zeners are for the linear regulators.

The 2SA1015 and 2SC1815 are rated for 50V, 150mA, 400mW:

(2SC1815)
(2SA1015)

A voltage drop of 28V (= 39 - 11) at 15mA would exceed the power rating. Does this mean that the other board is only drawing around 10mA at +/-11V? The power LED must be drawing at least 5mA.

Went to maplins again and they only had 3x 150v and 1x 180v capacitors.

Will these be ok?

And just googling the numbers on them I'm not sure they are the correct ones

He was saying all there parts draws are a mess as workers keep putting stuff back in the wrong place.

Also picked up some new fuse holders as per stj's recommendation

Those are not voltage ratings.

151J = 150pF
181J = 180pF

Neither capacitor is suitable.

you dont need disc, you can use multilayer - little square ones.
as long as they are ceramic 100nf (0.1uf) at 100v minimum

maplin has been a waste of space for years btw.
farnell has free delivery with no minimum order these days - so use farnell.

If you look at the board, there are two 470 Ohms 1W resistors, each one for feeding the Collectors of the Transistors, the Zeners are probably 12V, so they are not feeding the transistors directly with 39V.

i had to school the counter staff once over how to read the colour-codes on the resistors.

Bridge rectifier identification part number KPB305G

Hi all, a newby question about a bridge rectifier I'm trying to identify.

I'm in the midst of reparing a battery charger in work which went pop, The bridge rectifier has shorted and took out a couple of other components. The rectifier in question has a part number KPB305G, and it looks like it's obsolete. Does any one know what I could replace it with?...

Hello

My Fujitsu Esprimo Q556 motherboards blew up. At least fuse, bridge rectifier and capacitor got damaged. I have changed fuse and bridge rectifier (DF1508S), but I don't know what capacitor it is (picture). I know that capacitors size is 47nF, but I don't know other specs for it. Can you help me to choose right capacitor for my motherboard?
There is 240V AC on input side of bridge rectifier and 340V DC as output on capasitors side.

XFX 850w blown bridge rectifier.

Hi, a friend of mine gave me this broken power supply, aparently it's the rectifier bridge that was damaged months ago. He took it to a technician and they didn't have the repair tools necesary but they remove the original bridge rectifier since it was damaged(burned). I have some of this rectifiers laying around, but they are not the same. The original its a pair of GBJ1506

And I have KBL06 , KBL406 , RVB406, D5SBA20, D3SBA60, GBU608. Most of them have similar values to the original, but I'm not planning to use the PSU at full load (ie: SLI, an I7 processor, etc).

Reading input and output of bridge rectifier on the same scope?

I have a 40 volt AC transformer that I put a bridge rectifier on, and I wanted to see the input signal and the output signal on the same screen on my scope, so I set one channel up with the test lead on one side of the input and the ground lead on the other side of the input, then I used another channel on the scope and clipped the test lead on the positive side of the output then the ground on the negative side of the output.

When I connected the transformer to power, the wire that was connected between the ground lead on the second channel and the negative side of the bridge rectifier...

Macintosh Quadra 840AV PSU

I had my Quadra 840AV (which I recapped and had working) plugged in for some time without using it and randomly decided to turn it on today. Unfortunately it did not turn on. After checking the PSU, I found out I was not getting anything from 12V, only from the 5V rail. After a few minutes, I removed the PSU and plugged it back in the electrical outlet and it suddenly started making a weird sound and soon after smoke started coming out. I quickly unplugged it. I opened it up but on first instance I didn't see anything out of the ordinary really. I later turned it back on and one of the MOVs blew...
