    Enermax EG651P-VE FMA

This is an old PSU (550W/615W) - over 4 years old.

Tested go/no-go and find +5V out of regulation at 5.3V

    Open the PSU case and find;
PCE-TUF reservoir caps in the primary,
PCE-TUL used for the O/P filter caps

I see PCE-TUR are on the bad caps list.
Are the caps in this Enernmax similarly suspect?

    Should emphasis nothing looks amiss.

It'a probably about time I recapped this PSU anyway.
In fact, I have another same age with the same condition
on +5V rail as well as +5VSB problem with regulation.

So... would go with Panasonic FCs as I usually do.
Need to check the can sizes first.

    Any comments?

Made up a BOM FWIW re - the O/P filtration on this PSU

    I may have some problems getting 4700uF 16V @ 12.5mm dia and 3300uF 10V at 10mm dia.

    Anybody able to help?

I have the following caps, should be suit for your motherbaord, you can consider.
      Samxon RS 3300uF 16V D12.5x35mm
      Samxon RS 3300uF 10v D10x30mm

There is no problem to replace with 3300uF 16V D12.5mm instead of 4700uF 16v D12.5mm, i have tried in some power supplys. 4700uF 16v in diameter 12.5mm is custom made by factory, it can't find in the market(i meant good caps brand, not bad caps brand). Please visit my caps database for more details.

X-CON is a new brand for SAMXON's Polymer Capacitors.

I would be interested in the 3300uF 10V Samxon RS @ 10mm dia

What order size is required and how much per items as well as, how
much to get it shipped to Scotland?

        Please advise

          Re: Enermax EG651P-VE FMA

Appears the +5V reading at 5.3V is correct for this model to an extent.

          Let me explain.

I recapped the O.P filter caps entirely in this PSU as above.
I used a go/no-go tester to get rail readouts post recap.

Guess..? the +5V rail still reads 5.3V!

Next, I attached 4 HDDs to the PSU and tested again.
The +5V rail now reads 5.2V.

Ah well... the PSU at over 4 years old was due for a re-cap anyway.

Did not find anything amiss with the removed capacitors as with
          venting or bad ESR.

Lowest possible resistance on laptop motherboard rail - Guide Table request
            by Nagy Daniel
Hi, I'm Daniel, and I'm new to the world of repairing motherboards.

I would like to create a table, or more likely a guideline about the voltage rails and their possible resistance rail.

I know that the motherboard design has a very big depend on the rail's resistance, but I would like to know what is the smallest value for a rail that can be acceptable. For example, I heard that some new gaming motherboards can have 0,5 Ohm resistance on the GPU rail, but on an older type, it could be a sign of a shorted GPU rail.

So, I generated a table with AI so I can...

Acer Nitro 5 LA-L181p power LED turns on by 5 secs (Short on PCH rail?)
            by Victor Moreira Silva
            Hello everyone,

I'm trying to repair my old Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-54-55T5). I've already bought a new laptop, so this is more of a learning project. For the experience, with no high expectations of success.

Well, my decice specs are the following:

            Model: Acer Nitro 5 AN517-54-55T5
            CPU: Intel Core i5-11400H
            GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
            Motherboard: GH51G LA-L181P Rev:1c

            The symptom:
When pressing the power button, the power LED lights up for about 5 seconds and then turns off. Initially, the issue was intermittent: sometimes...

Lenovo Thinkcentre tiny M90Q gen 1 - no 12V rail
            by lefetylorant
            Hello Everyone,

Long story short, I got this unit for very cheap.
I've started to experiment with it's BIOS, as I did before successfully with an M900. However my very bad quality SOIC clip broken while dumping of the biosof and it must have damaged something on the panel, because it does not turn on, and does exactly nothing when powered. The maximum voltage that could have affected something is the 3.3 or 5v from the IC clip, because the unit was not powered while the bios dumping was in progress.

            I've performed some measurements:
            - 20V rail perfectly...

Weird behavior on 3.3V rail of a CORSAIR CX600
            by bimole
            Hi,

A colleague gave me an apparently ill CORSAIR CX600.
He told me that he heard a banging noise, and smelt the magic smoke.
After tearing down the PSU, no burnt component, everything seems OK, but the PSU often refuses to stay ON. When shorting PS_ON to GND, the fan spins a bit a finally stops. No output voltages.

I tried to treat some apparently bad solder joins and finally it seems to work OK... on the 12V and 5V rails!
It's another story on the 3.3V rail...

I have some devices to test deeply PSUs (scope, AC source, electronic load)...

            Acer AN515-55-528T FH52M LA-J891P - Short ciruit after PQW1 MOSFET on +1.35VSDGPU rail.
            by joshAU
            Hi all.
This notebook was showing no signs of life.

I removed the FH52M LA-J891P mainboard and found that there was 19V at the DC jack.
However there was zero volts on the two PRB2 and PRB46 resistors immediately after the two polarity protection MOSFETs (PQB11 & PQB12).

If I remove the PQW1 MOSFET, the 19V rail starts working, and I can turn on the unit - at least I get the fans, and the power light comes on, when I simulate the power button being pressed. No display.

I tried replacing the MOSFET with a new one, but again no voltage on the...
