I'm guessing the snubber capacitor is C6, and possibly C7 as well.

Can you tell us the part number of the switching IC? (Looks like they labeled it T1 - wtf?)

Would also help if you can remove the primary capacitor and take some more photos of the primary side area showing the top side traces and components, it's hard to see what goes where.

      Ok

Next weekend I might work on this board
I have order some more 2200uf@35 volt cap Which I do not have on hand
I only have 2200uf@25 volts ones on hand

The switching IC chip is one on the right hand side in the photo the one on the left hand side of the photo is the chip that controls the Heater on the gun
I am not sure what the one in the middle one dose yet I have not traced down that far yet I hope this helps

I bought another ZD-915 and recapped that the other day and works a lot better with the 2200uf@35 volt one
For one thing you can push the power button and push the button for the pump to be on and it will power on with no problems at all

With the 2200uf@25 volt cap I would not be able to do this I would have to wait 30 seconds before I could push the button for the pump to be on

The 2200uf @35 volt ones will fit on the board but lead spacing is a little different and the diameter of the leads are little larger than the 2200uf@25 volt ones and
the diameter of the can is also a little bigger so it is a tight fit

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
          by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

18VDC PSU completely dead - ZD-915 desoldering station
          by armini
          Hi everyone!

Three years ago I got a ZD-915 desoldering station which failed just after a few months of light use. During a short desoldering session, the station simply shut down, and since then it has been completely dead and unresponsive. The failure was silent, without any pops.

Due to a lack of time, I set it aside and didn't look at it.

Yesterday, I took it apart and did some basic measurements. The 18v terminal shows 0v. In addition, there is no visible damage to the board itself.

According to replies in 18VDC PSU has dropped to...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
          by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...
