They're easier to ship and package that way, take less space.
Easier to handle in the factory.

Was pretty frustrated, I went to put those MBR20100CT's in the PSU, even had them bolted to the heatsink and the legs were too short on them
So I left the original one....
Here is the final picture with the new diode, a Panaflo DC Brushless fan, the new caps (Except the -12V and -5V) and I also bent the fins on the heatsinks outwards, I think they will cool better this way. Now hopefully this thing can last in a computer
I only trust it up to 200W for long periods of time

Or just worked with a very low load? I hope Khron is right in the fact that the reverse voltage is a little lower but shouldn't affect it. Really? Because it got 5VSB but wouldn't power up. I will see how it goes! The SB540 is mounted to a little heatsink that should help
Edit: Woohoo it powers up now!
Now I can continue modifying it in confidence

40V vs 60V reverse voltage rating shouldn't be much of a problem, in this case. Judging by the location next to the 5Vsb transformer, i'd say it's a safe bet this is the 5Vsb rectifier

I had suspicions about this diode being shorted so I took it out and it measured 1.3Ω both ways and it diode check mode it reads 0 both ways, is it bad? It's an SB560 diode. Haha, thanksNot sure what your plans for that PSU are Pentium4, but it appears to be very similar (although slightly cheaper judging from the heatsinks) to this one I rebuilt a while back if you want some ideas.

the cap that is in it is only rated at 85 deg so I would up grade to 105 deg the peak esr 70 is showing that the cap is within spec (ie 20%+or-)
I would replace it anyway where there any other components blown it the primary side of this PSU? if so you will need to replace them as well then you need to check the secondary side.

I'm learning about motherboard repair and I believe I've traced the issue down for the South Bridge on the particular motherboard I'm working on. My path of concluding that:
- There's no sign of any attempt to power on when pushing the power button.
- No PSON signal is reaching the 24-pin ATX connector.
- The Super IO chip is receiving the PS_SWITCH signal from the power button and is relaying this signal back to the South Bridge.
- The Super IO is not receiving the S_SLPS#_R signal back from the South Bridge

I bought faulty speakers, M-Audio AV40's. Other speaker has all the electronics in it and the other speaker is just passive one powered by the other speaker's amp. Original problem with the speakers was loud buzzing. I figured out that there is something wrong with the capacitors. I went ahead and replaced every electrolytic capacitor on the PCB. The caps are good quality and have the same values as the original ones.
After replacing the caps I started testing out the speaker. It seemed...4 Photos-

by _AcE_I have two of these soundbars, both with the exact same issue. The soundbars were hit by lightning and no longer power on. The PSU does not output any voltage on the DC side. When plugged into mains, the DC output is a stone-cold 0.0 volts. The AC side of the PSU seems to be functioning correctly (as far as I can tell). When checking the plugged-in PSU with my thermal camera, the OB5269CP PWM controller (U1) and the two resistors (R12 and R13) pulse on and off. These run to the positive DC side of the bridge rectifier (among other components along the way).

I have a linear variable power supply with unknown brand name that I used for voltage injection.
Then it failed. I discovered that its transistors (Q1 and Q2) are shorted.
In addition, I discovered that its zener diodes are defective.
I can replace the burned transistors.
But I do not know the model of the zener diodes. the model number is not marked on the zener diodes.
Therefore, I cannot replace the zener diodes.
I do not want to test the zener diodes in a test circuit to discover their model or value.
