Re: Suggest Filtering Upgrade for ICAN PSU
And I can see here a coil formed around a rod, instead of a ring, being used as a primary filterind device!
How is the inductance of these coils measured?Comment

Re: Suggest Filtering Upgrade for ICAN PSU
It's a shot made at a steep angle, to show the writing on the X cap.
You can barely see the holes for a second inductor and a bit of one lead - I cut out a large inductor that was sitting right before R49
Here's the full board, minus a few capacitors and the main switchers and inductors:
ps. the small vertical pcb on the right is nice, has the protection circuitry, some comparators and opamps and even a 555

by bauto601Back in 2020 i bought a (2nd hand) compact ATX psu to replace my current one. My PC case only fits very short ATX power supplies so i didn't really have the choice of buying a decent 80Plus unit. The current unit is a modded YoungYear unit that i made a thread about a while ago:
A "nice" YoungYear unit? - Badcaps
The "new" unit is a KDM-M6480 480W psu, the 480W number is a typical KDM bullshit claim of course, but the 24A rating on the 12V rail seemed reasonable and the "Active PFC" claim gave me a bit of hope that this was going to be decent-ish.... -
by momakaMore eBay specials: this time a Gigabyte GP-P450b 450W ATX PSU for $8 with free S&H. Listed “For part/not working”, as usual. Showed up in a beat up EVGA box without any padding… but that's understandable given the total price. PSU made it out fine without damage. It's a non-modular (yay!), pretty modern-day looking PSU with a black paint and all black cables (meh, not my favorite, but figure it's good to keep a few of these in case I do need one for a more modern PC build, just so my old gray boxes don't look too odd in there.)
And a shot of the label:... -
by momakaI know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.
For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

by momakaFor today's thread, I have a KingWin ABT-650MM ATX PSU. Official web page with the PSU specs is still up and can be found here:

I just can't help it when I see a broken / for parts PSU on eBay that's listed for cheap and looks at least somewhat interesting. Well, OK, I won't lie – on the outside, this PSU looks anything but interesting. It's a plain gray box with colorful “spaghetti cables”.
What mostly drew me into buying it is its 2x PCI-E power connectors... -
by SpoonicksHello,
Have a Samsung 2233SN with no CFL backlight. Testing with a flashlight, I can see the image is displayed, but the backlight fails after some seconds.
Sometimes, after being off for a while, the backlight will remain on for a couple minutes, but most of the times it fails immediately.
I tried to follow the guide present in this forum, but so far I haven't de-soldered any components. I need some advice on how to proceed to diagnose this display.
Following the guide I tested the following:
