Dat P3B-F complaining 'bout mah Bestec

    Hi

My recapped bestec is working fine since months but i just connected my ASUS P3B-F to it and it says that -5V is bad... see pic.

Anything to worry about? the other board, MSI KT6-Delta doesnt complain about it....

    Cheers

many newer power supplies did away with -5.

More often than not, motherboard voltage sensors are very innacurate. The -5v rail is probably fine, but if you have a multimeter, use that to check it.

The -5v is for ISA devices. What ATX version is your PSU? It may not have the -5v connector. Quick way to tell is to look at the 20-pin ATX connector on the PSU. If one hole
in the connector has no metal piece inside it, it doesn't support -5V, and the reading on your P3B-F is meaningless.

So you are connecting to the P3B-F motherboard with a 24-pin to 20-pin adapter?

Not really. I just leave the 4 pins hanging off the side.
