This PSU is the same as the one in the switchmode power supply article by c_heddge
I got it with a non-operational 5VSB
Quite a few damaged components - circled in the schematic (ignore the secondary side, i used a schematic from a different PSU, and only adjusted the 5VSB circuit)
The electrolytic cap was high ESR; so i think what happened is that it couldn't charge up enough to turn on the TO92 transistor, thus over-heating the main MOSFET and causing it to short, which, in turn, damaged the other components
The source of the MOSFET is connected to the base of the TO92...

Replaced all except the MOSFET. 5VSB came back online. Then I poked around in it so much, measuring components one by one to a point I accidentally made the 5VSB circuit primary side went bang. Blown the AP8022 (Viper22A) PWM chip, along with a low resistance resistor and the PC817 opto isolator. I replaced them all.
In the process of poking around, I also lost a zener diode that stabilize the voltage coming from...3 Photos -
Hi,
Finally replaced all of the shorted 4148's and resistors and an blown tl431 on my FSP300-60GTF after 5VSB going crazy and destroying it self. Those components also made the secondary transistors appear shorted (while in reality they weren't).
Powered it on through my dim bulb tester and they (bulbs) only flash once meaning primary caps are getting charged, but that's it. No 5VSB, PS_ON voltages.
I am sure I have replaced the components correctly and that there weren't any shorted/blown traces left.
Any ideas where to go next? -
by pb1911ntHi
I have now a 820-4924 (with a i7 and 16GB).
I would like to get the device working again for me.
The Problem is the Device comes to me with a "dead" ssd. I tested on a other 820-4924 (i5-8gb) board and the MAC OS Installation stopped working with this SSD.
Well i hope/guess its was a easy peasy Fix - New SSD And its working again.. But No!
I don't know exactly how the procedure should start. But the LCD panel goes dark - then the "chime"(?!) sound comes and only 2 or 3 seconds later the apple comes.
it doesn't... -
by Stanley1843Hi, my PS3 Slim (CECH-3003A) when I connected to 230V the PS3 the indicator of the switch is red and after pressing it the is green (fan spins) for only 10 seconds and then completely off. Some times also is completely off when I connected to 230V.
On the CN101 connector at the 5VSB pin I measure 0V.
Without the CN101 connector pluged in the PS3 board (on the fly) I am measuring 5V on the 5VSB on the power supply side.
On the 5VSB in respect to ground I am measuring 6 Ohm resistance. There is any schematic to find which ICs supplied from 5VSB or any suggestions where l have to... - Loading...
