microwave rotary switch contacts go bad requently
      by jm1234
Hi, I have a 11 year old microwave Siemens and the main function selector switch is a rotary type. It goes bad every few months, there are carbon (?) pads and the metal contacts that drive on them create concentric circle tracks from the residue.

I clean the tracks and the metal contacts with IPA and it works few months again. Here you can see the contacts:

Once I tried this contact cleaner: Kontakt 60 https://www.badcaps.net/download/?id=acef4218, but it only lasted few weeks, so probably not a good choice.
Is there any more lasting solution?...

Lithium 12v tool battery charger... no negative connection?
      by budwich
I have a drill and battery but no charger so I bought a "universal charger" 120ac in ... 12vdc out (not really universal in lithium world). Anyway it has three contacts, positive, negative and "T" (temperature sensor). I connected those contacts to the contacts on the battery. No charging happened and only the status light is on (green solid) which the label indicates "100% charged".... but the battery isn't near that at around 9v and dying. There doesn't appear to be any difference whether the battery is connected or not. I got suspicious and pulled the...

Alto TS315 Powered speaker with No Power - RESOLVED
      by mon2
Hello. A quick writeup on a powered 1000W speaker that came in this morning with no power. The GREEN power led was dark. Fuse was tested and found to be ok.

Removed the power supply / amp combination from backside of the unit for inspection. Started to test in diode mode for possible shorts on the board.

The cabling from the AC socket to the switch was failing but would work with some wiggling of the same cable (brown in our case).

Upon closer inspection, found that there is some factory applied black epoxy to secure the tabs in place? With some elbow grease...

Philips toothbrush 4100 (HX369BK) - motor getting hot
      by d00m178
trying to fix Philips toothbrush 4100 (HX369BK)
      The battery started draining quickly.
After disassembling it, I discovered that the motor gets very hot when brush is off, which is apparently causing the battery to lose charge.
The motor is connected to contacts M1 and M2.
When I turn on the brush, 0.4V appears on these contacts, and the motor starts running as expected.
But when I turn off the brush, the voltage changes to 3.8V—exactly the same as the battery.
The motor gets so hot you can't touch it. And after 5 minutes, the battery drains to 0V.
      (To...
