    HP 17-BY0132NF Touchpad dead

    Hi all,

I have a problem with a HP 17-BY0132NF Notebook (motherboard marking SNAPE-6050A2982701-MB-A01(A1)). After repair and subsequent Windows 10 install, the system was extremely slow. Nevertheless I managed to download all drivers from the HP support page (which correctly identiefed the notebook as 17-BY0132NF), and I also installed a BIOS update. The original BIOS revision was F9, and I updated it to F64, the most recent available version.

This fixed the speed issue immediately, but the Touchpad stopped working. I tried every possible software solution (tried different drivers, Windows reinstall, etc.), to no avail. Then I tried to revert to the original BIOS version, only to notice that there is no F9 revision on the HP support page. I tried downgrading to other BIOS versions, but that did not help either. Unfortunately I do not have a backup of the original F9 version.

As the touchpad is driven by the EC, I might have messed up the EC during the initial BIOS update. As I do not have a programmer for the EC, I hope this is not the case. I have attached the current BIOS dump. Could somebody help me with cleaning/fixing my BIOS?

I thank you very much in advance for your help.

    Cheers,

      Hi hardware1,

That solved the problem, thank you very much. On first boot, BIOS wrote into EC (there was a short dialog window), and now my touchpad is working again. I just need to get out of manufacture unlock mode now, will donwload an avalible version of BCU, and do that.

      Thanks again!

        ASUS TP500LA BIOS request/repair/merge?
        by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
        Some issues
        A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

        Things I tried

1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...

[REQUEST] Dell G3 3579 BIOS Password & AMI Protected Range/BIOS Guard Unlock
        by zenius
Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...
