Re: Dell XPS 9310 GDA30 LA-J143P bios repair please
Has anyone solved the 2 amber, 4 white blink code (memory failure) via a bios flash? Reading through the posts, it seems a lot of people tried in this thread, but no conclusive results.
Thank you!Comment

Hi guys!
My laptop also gets stuck on the startup logo, but none of the USB ports work either, and it doesn't want to charge the battery through either of the two ports. Maybe my bios is corrupted?
Motherboard model: GDA30 LA-J143P

Re: Dell XPS 9310 GDA30 LA-J143P bios repair please
Hello Guys,
Please can you help me with a new clean bios dump for my laptop? I will 100% be donating to help keep a great site like this going.
My laptop has the 3 Amber/ 6 White flashes. What had previously happened when it was working was both USB ports stopped detecting any devices in Windows with unknown device after plugging in a Wacom dongle. So I reflashed a new bios from Dell as there was a newer one in support assist and then that was that, bricked! The Dell logo comes up, laptop charges but none of the many recovery options work.
I got a WSON8 Pogo pin line probe from Amazon and was luckily able to read and dump the dead bios with Neo programmer first try luckily.
Here are some of the details.
Intel i7-1185G7 11th Gen UHD+ 16GB Ram 1TB HD, 2020/12/16 Model Made in Taiwan
NOT a 2in1 just the normal touchscreen one.
Service Tag: CHHM7C3
Bios Chip XMC QH256BXiQ
Please let me know if you need any other numbers needed as I’m a complete novice at this. Noticed a whole bunch of numbers on the inside of the aluminum back cover next to a QR code if needed?
Many thanks all.Attached FilesLast edited by himmon; 11-08-2023, 08:56 AM.Comment

Re: Dell XPS 9310 GDA30 LA-J143P bios repair please
Hello Markus, unfortunately, didn't work.
I detected IC with NeoProgrammer, successful.
Erased IC, success.
Write IC with your new bios, success,
Verified IC, success.
Disconnected NeoProg,
Reconnected the battery, won't turn on, and nothing is on display now.
Held the power button for 12 seconds, but nothing. Tried the CTRL and ESC and plugin power, but nothing.
All that happens if I press the power button, the orange LED on the front illuminates. If I let go of the power button, the orange LED goes off. If I tap power a few times, it flashes the orange LED a few times at the same time as pressing power.Comment

You can also try these from hoaca388, they are ME Clean, good luck...

Re: Dell XPS 9310 GDA30 LA-J143P bios repair please
Tried the other bios you attached, exact same result, won't turn on, orange LED when the power is pressed. With my original broken bios, the screen was on with the Dell logo with 3 and 6 flashes.
Do I need to give any more info than just other than the service tag, not sure where to find the motherboard model number etc if that helps? With neoprogrammer, takes about 5 mins to flash and 5 mins to verify using black CH314A. Detects the IC chip exactly. When reading the IC again, it has definitely written a lot of data instead of just all FF FF FF, etc.
Thank you very much for your help so far.Comment

Hello SMDFlea,
Thanks for confirming they're for Tigerlake which I have as its an 11th Gen i7,
So I could just try flash either of those? My Service Tag: CHHM7C3
But I assume you don't need that when I flash either one of those bios that may work as it'll ask me to confirm the service tag if it boots?

Re: Dell XPS 9310 GDA30 LA-J143P bios repair please
Hello hoaca388,
Thank you for this new bios, so far this is looking way more positive but still some problems.
After erasing and flashing this bios, the laptop now switches on and goes through the red green blue screen test for about 3 cycles, then switches off, reboots, comes back on, and shows the Dell screen but is stuck. Left it for 5 minutes.
So I tried holding power to force turn off. Then pressing F12 or F2 repeatedly and immediately when pressing the power button turns the dell screen logo and keyboard backlight on and off every time I press either F12 or F2. The front LED is constantly flashing white on and off during all of this.
Should I try disconnecting and reconnect the battery or maybe bios problem still?
Really appreciate all your time with this.Comment

by zeniusHello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.
Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...-

by mikeybassHi, I hope some one has some advice for me. I searched the forums but didn't see anything relevant. I acquired two identical Dell 9010 Mid Tower computers from a business office upgrade (they were going to throw them out). Both of them have the same motherboard (00F82W). One of them works flawlessly. The other one had a corrupted BIOS. I tried flashing numerous main BIOS and EC files from the internet, but none of them worked. I decided to copy the main BIOS and EC from the working 9010 computer and successfully flashed the corrupted BIOS. This got the computer able to boot again and run norm...

by jhanraHi there masters, recently i got a dell 5400 chromebook and wanted to install windows, i searched the internet and i found out other people also wanting a UEFI bios for this model, i searched there is a R/W legacy, but there are bugs like keyboard/trackpad not working, and hard to install.
so i decided to try to port one, this bios is based on dell 5400 windows version, i am testing this bios for a week now an found only a little to no bug at all in windows 10, or only a minor issue
in windows 11 sound driver compatibility, but overall its ok, for me i can deal with it, 😅😅😅...-

by mrrubikHi folks,
I got a Dell Optiplex 7010 micro PC (Exact Model) with 8FC8 BIOS and locked out admin password. I attempted to remove the password by patching the BIOS via info from this thread: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...ssword-patcher
After flashing the patched the BIOS, the PC is unresponsive with a solid AMBER power LED (not documented in manual anywhere)
Steps I took:- Read BIOS with CH341a, verified hash twice
