Open your bios with a hex editor and search for the word BID, keep pressing the F3 key until you find the one shown in the first picture,thats your bios ID version. Go to the HP support site,enter the serial number on the laptop case and download the bios update.Run the biosupdate.exe ,it will give you a choice to save the bios to a location.
The next thing to do is copy your DMI info from your backup to the new virgin bios using the offsets in the second picture,that will only take another minute,and it will save you having to use HP BCU/wndmifit

Only if its a non business machine,and an Insyde bios. The DMI is in different places, different off-sets. You can find it usually by searching for the serial number,or with a few key words such as notebook , omen . The DMI can sometimes be in one large block, and will have everything within that range, the serial,feature byte,win key .Other times the serial,feature byte and win key can be at 2 or 3 different off-sets, its finding where it is thats a challenge, its like a game of hide and seek . The win key can usually be found by searching for the hex pattern: 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 1D 00 00 00 ,or with software such as WinKeyFinder - https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...43&postcount=5
