post the contents of the bios chip even if it is corrupted..

The bios chip must be unsoldered from the board before writing or reading..
do not use the clip, you may have errors..if you do not have anything to unsolder it with,
solder wires between the programmer and the bios chip..

    you need an SPI programmer

The laptop did not start, maybe it was caused by something else, but it was done before that update bios in ubuntu and after a couple of days while working it just turned off so I thought maybe it was a problem with the bios, I ordered the same notebook and I will make dumps and then check. then I will write back. thanks

I have a Dell Latitude 5400 that was my dads. The ssd was bitlocked so I've made an image of it incase we find the password but for now I want to try installing Zorin OS onto it. However to do that I need to disable some things in the bios but the bios is locked.

So my question is what info do I need to access to either change or remove the bios password? I saw people saying you need the 8MB chip dump, however I can't find that chip on the board. I found UC5 which is 16MB and UC6 is empty(doesn't have a chip).โ€‹

it should be a 32MB bios chip...look on the other side of the board...

                  Cheers for the response.

I've had a look at the back of the mobo but I cant seem to find anything that resembles what I'm looking for. There are 2 on the mobo I've been able to find that look like a bios chip. UC5 and UT6. Other than that Im unsure if I'm just not looking for the correct component. I'll put the info I currently have aswell as some images of the mobo.

Where is the "Like button"? I think this is excellent (and I don't even have a Dell Latitude 5400). I would tackle it via software tools vs hardware any day of the week. Like Sparo says fellas ... just read the words on the pages for real fixes.

Affirmative. When it's possible and not too time-consuming decoding the password is always better than using the hardware Patch method. Agreed ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Hi there masters, recently i got a dell 5400 chromebook and wanted to install windows, i searched the internet and i found out other people also wanting a UEFI bios for this model, i searched there is a R/W legacy, but there are bugs like keyboard/trackpad not working, and hard to install.

so i decided to try to port one, this bios is based on dell 5400 windows version, i am testing this bios for a week now an found only a little to no bug at all in windows 10, or only a minor issue
in windows 11 sound driver compatibility, but overall its ok, for me i can deal with it, ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…...

Sorry for the long story. I have a Dell Latitude 5530 (i7) laptop (South Peak 15 MLK MB DDR4 203102-1 FK8VG$JA) with an admin BIOS password that I want to remove. Service Tag: HYKFPT3. Other than that the laptop worked OK.

I found a CH341A Black and went looking for the BIOS chip on the motherboard. After trying to read one chip that was a firmware chip but not the BIOS I think I found the BIOS chip labeled Winbond 25Q256JVEN. Altogether I think I found 4 different firmware chips in the laptop. The BIOS chip is a WSON8 6x8. I used the CH341A, NeoProgrammer, and a cheap pogo pin clip...

3 amber 3 white blinks. Dell website sais it's problem "bios recovery" and suggested solution "recovery image not found"

I try plugging charger while pressing ctrl+esc, machine turns on, nothing and after 20 seconds it gives 3 amber 3 white blinks again.
