            Hi,

I've got an HP EliteBook 745 G5 with the issue, that it is turning on, but does not display any image.
I've dumped both BIOS files and attached them.

qayyum786 thank you for your help. Sorry for the late reply, I just noticed yesterday, that you replied a few hours after I posted here.

Today I flashed said BIOS chip, now the charging led is solid white and the orange led flashes 5 times. After and during those 5 orange flashes, the white led stays on.
The power button flashes for a brief second when I plug the board gets power and after it nothing happens.
This occurs even from battery power.

Thank you guys! Sadly it didn't work, still does the 5 flashes and white charging led on issue. I've reflashed the original firmware and it does the same, so probably something went wrong when I removed or soldered the BIOS chips.
I'll report after I tried a few more tricks, but still, thank you guys for the help.

Check if you did not, shift any resistors when you take out the bios chip

                        Hi,

It turns out I did that and somehow in that process the resistor was rotated 90° and an another dissapeared. Now I've discovered that it was a 0Ohm one and found a replacement for the missing one and after I soldered them back the correct way it is now back to the original state. Thank you for suggesting it. These components are so small, that I've not noticed it 'till you mentioned that it might be the cause.

I've tried all two BIOS files above (and my original as well) and it is back to fans ramping up to full speed and no image with all mentioned (main) BIOS files.

                        The sympthom is the following:
When I plug in the laptop, it flashes the charging led orange while it is white, then it starts the laptop.
The charging white led turns off and the orange charging led stays on (no battery is connected). The power button now lights up white and the laptop turns on.

The fan is off in the beginning, but then it starts to ramp up as the CPU starts to heat up and the fan reaches full speed in about a minute. Few more minutes go by and still no image.

                        This was the original behavior.

I've also noticed a 3rd BIOS chip that is also a Winbond one, but that is only a 16Mbit chip (W25Q16JV). Can it be related to the issue mentioned above?

                                          Hi guys,

If someone would be able to provide some expertise, I'd be very grateful.

                                          BIOS Corruption - Cause
So I managed to corrupt my machine by installing linux and enrolling custom secure boot keys. I did choose to enroll the Microsoft keys as well, to prevent any potential bricking due to 3rd party drivers from HP being signed with those keys.
After doing that, and rebooting(it did boot, powerLED, fanspin etc.), the laptop did not give any video output on the LCD or video connectors. I think I was able to get in BIOS and trigger the beeper by pressing ESC....

                                          Greetings badcaps community,

I havent done this for a long time and want to start it all again, after some evil and annyoing illness.
So I apologize in advance, if some phrases might sound a bit like gibberish or illogical to you.

Im trying my best to fully describe what I plan to achieve and hope I was choosing the right sub-forum for my new adventure.

                                          I have a Elitebook 820 G1 and a Elitebook 840 G2 here.

These ask for a password when entering the BIOS, but boot just fine from the internal SSD.

                                          I learned that desoldering...

                                          Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
                                          🧩 Initial Issue
                                          • Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
                                          • External display (HDMI) shows

                                          Elitebook 850 G5 BIOS bricked
                                          by Guest
                                          Hello,

I have an EliteBook 850 G5. After a Windows update, including a BIOS update, the notebook turns on, but the screen remains black, and the fans spin at high speed—nothing else happens.

I assume the BIOS update failed, so I searched for the BIOS chip.

I found a Winbond chip located between the RAM and the hard drive, which has a size of 32 MB.

However, the BIOS update available on HP's website is only 17 MB in size. I used the update version that was previously installed when the notebook was still working.

                                          Can the corrupted...

                                          Hello everyone,

I recently bought a non-working Asus Zenbook Pro Duo OLED UX8402ZA that was listed for parts only. The seller mentioned that it had no display output but that the charging lights worked.

When the laptop arrived (without a charger and SSD), I connected a charger and confirmed with a multimeter that it was charging the battery. However, when I tried to power it on, only the backlight of the secondary display came on. There was no image, and it didn’t boot into the BIOS.

I decided to try flashing a new BIOS, but since I didn’t want to desolder...
