    Problem with flashing MX25L12873F

    Hi guys,

I am having problem with flashing (writing) BIOS Chip MX25L12873F on HP 830 G6.

With the flashrom software in Linux i got the error:
Erasing and writing flash chip... FAILED at 0x00011000! Expected=0xff, Found=0x00, failed byte count from 0x00011000-0x00011fff: 0x18
    ERASE FAILED!
    Looking for another erase function.
    FAILED at 0x00018000! Expected=0xff, Found=0x00, failed byte count from 0x00018000-0x0001ffff: 0x12

Then i used Asprogrammer in Windows it showed me:
Possible protection is enabled. Press "Unprotect" and check datasheet
I have pressed "Unprotect" but no success

The Reading was good without any problem. Both in Linux and Windows. All the read files have same SHA256 Checksum.

I think there's something block writing on the Chip.

    Maybe you can help.

    Thank you

      Hi,
      The chip is desoldered.
I am using CH341a Black. I mean i haven't had any Problem with Winbond Chips.

Try NeoProgrammer software from this post. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...50&postcount=5
There`s also a link to a 3.3V mod for the black pcb version,it can make it more stable.

I don"t use this programmer, but there is no problem with 5v instead of 3.3v on these models ??
take the VCC voltage on the chip.

                  Re: Problem with flashing MX25L12873F

Hi just found this forum searching for this chip and this thread point me in the right direction (I guess). The recommended tool up above (NeoProgrammer) almost worked, but still I wasn't able to write on the chip.

Using NeoProgrammer V2.2.0.10 I managed to write a new BIOS in this chip. Unfortunately seems like this didn't solve my problem (Gigabyte motherboard bricked because I enabled secure boot without an APU, only having a NVidia GPU).

Hope you guys have more luck.

I just had the same problem on ASRock X370, bios would write but verification failed. I'm using Asprogrammer and CH341 with a clip. I download Neo but before I even ran it, chip would verify. What I did was erase the chip, read it (confirm all FFs), then write it again and verify. Not sure what the issue was, perhaps poor connection on the clip?

                      Hi everyone,
                      help me please

                      I have an HL-DT-ST BD-RE GGW-H20N with ROM version: XA02.

When I tried to burn a 25GB Blu-ray disc using ImgBurn, I got an error.
I will share all the details with you, including the disc information.

                      Code:

                      Current Profile: BD-R

                      Disc Information:
                      Status: Empty
                      State of Last Session: Empty

                      by STKR123
As the Elitebooks (820, 840 all gens) only show flashing Power LED and flashing CapsLock (continuously) + a very soft "ticking" noise near the DC Jack,
I wonder if re-flashing the BIOS might be of any use here.

As far as I understood, steady flashing either means insufficient power or a CPU/GPU/Motherboard issue. I use the original 65watt power supply.

There are so many threads out there, but most of the solutions involve flashing codes, which I dont have or claim that you MUST use the original power supply, do a hard reset, reseat the RAM, clean the RAM,...

                      Hello Community!

                      CASE DETAILS

Promblem Signs: Backlight on 1 sec off 7sec > repeat && Red standby light: 1blink, off 3 sec, 2 blinks, off 5 secs, 2 blinks, off 3 sec, restart cycle

13V present on powerboard output. Backlight continues flashing after removing cables to pannel one at a time and even with both disconnected. NOTE: backlight STOPs flashing and remains on when connector between powerboard and mainboard (note Tcon built in) is disconnected.

Tried inserting firmware on USB and left it in for a few hours, but no change

Problem Flashing Macronix MX25L6445E BIOS Chip with CH341A and EZP2019+ on ASUS X455LD
                      by pengamat_hebat
                      Hello everyone,

I'm trying to flash the BIOS chip Macronix MX25L6445E from my ASUS X455LD laptop using both a CH341A and an EZP2019+ programmer, but I keep encountering issues.

Reading the chip works perfectly, and I can extract the BIOS dump without any problems.

However, erasing and writing fail every time, regardless of the software I use. (Neo, asprog, ch341, etc)

I also tried applying 3.3V to pin 3, but it still didn't work.

I attempted to unprotect the chip, but when I read it back, the registers remained unchanged.

                      by H34TO
Recently I've gotten into EC flashing due to my broken laptop(s) and started frantically searching methods for flashing the IT5571E-128 chip on the cheap(due to me beaing a student and not having a job) and noticed that ITE newer chips can be flashed via ISP (In-System Programming) either via SMBus or the KBC (EPP - Enhanced Parallel Port) interface. While these can be achieved with programmers like SVOD4/3 or the RT809H/F those options are WAYYY out of my budget so I was horrified. But recently I stumbled uppon some programmers on aliexpress that claim they can program a variety of ITE chips...
