Assumed BIOS corruption occured on EliteBook 1020 Folio G1.
Manufacturer : Hewlett-Packard
Motherboard : HSTNN-I28C 6050A2646201-MB-A03
Product Name: HP EliteBook Folio 1020 G1
Version : A3008DD18B03
Model / Serial Number : CNU5069DVF
SKU Number : K0H23ES#UUZ
Family : 103C_5336AN G=N L=BUS B=HP S=ELI!
BIOS Version : M77 Ver. 01.26
System Board ID : 2271
System Board CT : PFAZA001X8B07N
Pressing POWER button results in only the LED in the F12 key lighting and the keyboard LEDs come on and fade to black. LCD is black.
I reflashed the BIOS before the board failed. Before it was giving many errors.
I see now there are two options : (1) buy and replace BIOS chips and (2) buy Flash programmer and flash myself.
I now see that there are two BIOS chips, both of these are in QFN packages (image attached)
BIOS Chip #1 is Winbond 25q16dv
BIOS Chip #2 is Macronix mx25l12873fzni
I would assume the tool to use would be a SOIC8 with POGO pi adaptor.
My questions
(1) Do I flash both chips with the same BIOS image?
(2) Are there any other chips that require modification?
(3) Is buying the chips likely to be more successful?
(4) What other actions need to be performed?
I have all the system information apart from the "Feature Byte" and build id
This was not a password protected, something went wrong with the BIOS and it degraded from that point.
