    A1278 820-3115-B EMC 2554 Bios Password Removal

    Hello.

I'm doing this myself. I've done some research regarding how to do this. I was hoping that I could get some help from you here.

I don't have a SMD soldering kit so I bought this programmer:
SOIC8 SOP8 Flash Chip IC Test Clips Socket Adpter Programmer BIOS + CH341A 24 25 Series EEPROM Flash BIOS USB Programmer Module (Double Clip+ USB)

I know it can provide 5v or 3v so when it gets here; I hope that it has instructions so I don't send 5v or the wrong voltage on the wrong line; I don't want to kill this chip.

So far I know that I need a Clean bin, remove the password section by looking for $svg, add my serial number and my hashcode.

I will be uploading my bad bios bin when I receive the Programmer; it should be here in an hour or two. Any tips, tricks, advice are welcomed.

remove the bios chip from the motherboard before reading or writing it, make a copy of the original bios of the laptop before playing with the bios chip ... search for $svs ...

I was able to read the chip with the programmer and get a dump of the bad bios. I will leave it attached in the comment.

      I used AsProgrammer.
      SPI option selected.
      IC: N25Q064A
My board has the chip: 25Q064A
AsProgrammer doesn't have an option to search.

The keyboard stopped working and the power button doesn't work now.

          Update:
I didn't connect the ribbon correctly. The Bios is still locked.

It worked but when the installation loads it says: Your computer is disabled. Try again in 60 Minutes.

Update: It went away after a PRAM, SMC reset.

MacBook EMC 2554 2012 EFI password.

                Hey all,
Purchased 4 units of EMC 2554 2012 13" MacBook pros all EFI locked ( guessing from a school) .
What would be the fastest and easiest way to remove bypass the EFI password?
I recently purchased the EZP2019+ programer with the clip but heard that it's sometimes not safe to use the clip and in some case the chip need to be removed and I'd like to avoid that .
                Any suggestions?
Anyone here use the EZP2019+ with the clip that can tell me if I need to inject power externally or not ?
                Thanks

Re: MacBook EMC 2554 2012 EFI password.

                  Update:
Used clip but only works when the charger is connected to the Mobo , I edited the bin file and replace all the characters between $SVS and replace all with FF .
The EFI is unlocked but now GPU shows 3MB and graphics look horrible and slow .
Anyone have a unlocked bin file I can use or tell me what you think is wrong ?
I saved a copy of the original file .
                  Thanks

Re: MacBook EMC 2554 2012 EFI password.

                    2nd update:
After os install and firmware update gpu is back to 1.5gb and laptop is working good .
1 out of 4 of the laptops I'm not able to read and seems like the reason is with my programmer using the clip I can't get the suspend voltage to power the chip .
                    Any suggestions?
I would rather not inject voltage and not remove the chip.
Otherwise the laptop turns on fine , no issues just EFI locked .
I did try thet trick or connecting the pin 4 to ground inside my EZP2019 but didn't work, and I used the same clip and programer to unlock 2 other of the same model , same chip same EMC 2554
                    Thanks

                      try this..
stick wires between the programmer and the bios chip, if you can..

I am using a clip , should I try to cut the wires in the middle of the clip and inject 3v like that ?

Maybe it's time for you to think about some good tools. Like an adequate programmer and hot air station for example.
I don't know what kind of results you are expecting from this cheap programmer and a clamp. You would have done the job long ago with the right tools.

I've already told you what you should do, but you obviously have your own views on the matter.
I've always been amazed at people like you, wanting to loosen a tight nut with your bare hands, but fail and then ask if it would help going to the gym to built muscles like Mr. Olympia. Nope, it will not help. It can be done with a wrench.
It has been commented a thousand times that clips are an unreliable method, especially in combination with an unreliable programmer like ch341a and yours. In addition the clips are so poorly made and after being used a few times, the tip is deformed in a way it can be used no more, and with each subsequent use it gets worse and worse. Quite often the ribbon cable gets unsoldered from some of the clips pins because it is thin and poorly made too. So go ahead, cut wires, inject voltages, do whatever you want.
The way you think you can read the chip correctly, and then program it with verification with the available skills and tools is a mystery that no longer concerns me.

                                      .
