I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T470 with a now damaged tamper protection switch. I can't access the system BIOS to disable the error message as the unit hangs at the error (and then displays a perfectly blank screen when I press the ESC key). Hello. I need to unlock the bios, which is user-locked. I think it doesn't require a disk, which I don't have. I don't know what to do, and I don't want to ruin the laptop. I unsoldered the winbond 25Q12BJVSQ chip and loaded it. I'm attaching the file. I'm not sure if it also depends on other U15, U49 chips. I could still manage U15. Thank you for any advice. Everything works, keyboard backlight and lights, but no image and after a few seconds it plays some melody. Can you wait for another option? Or put it in the closet for a year until it gets easier? I guess I should see the logo there so I can move on. With your patch, the display won't show anything.Comment

Nah leave the closet out for now. We will fix it Inshaa'ALLAHEverything works, keyboard backlight and lights, but no image and after a few seconds it plays some melody. FIRST flash Type_20HE_CSME_Clean+WinKey and WAIT for your machine to boot
Only then proceed with the following steps in the correct order
1- Now Flash Type_20HE_CSME_Clean+WinKey_PATCHED
1- Boot the machine and Press ENTER/F1/etc. to enter BIOS settings
2- Enter any character when asked for Supervisor Password
3- Press enter when it shows Hardware ID
4- Press space bar 2x when asked and then Turn off machine
6- Flash back Type_20HE_CSME_Clean+WinKey
7- Reset BIOS settings to factory default
PS: When booting the patched BIOS you might have to:
1- Hold the anti-tamper switch down the whole time (use tape)
2- Remove the hard disk or replace it with a locked one

Motheboard K.O. I damaged the surrounding millimeter resistor. So I'm done. I can send it to you if you want to take a look. We can discuss it via private message. -
That shouldn't be a major issue (K.O.), it can be fixed once you're ready to try. Just solder it back on, or replace it if the resistor is damaged or missing
Here's a schematic to help you identify the exact resistor value by locating the component name (e.g. R32) > https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...ic#post1366761

Hi everyone:
I have a T470 here with a dead battery. For that reason, I'm using Winflash64.exe to bypass the battery check while doing a bios/EC update. After a lot of trouble, I managed to flash the BIOS update via winflash64.exe. However, when I try to update the EC via the following command:
winflash64.exe /ipf ec /file $0an1q00.fl2
I get: ERROR 081 - Failed to load BIOS image file!
I know the BIOS version and EC version should not be mismatched. Can anyone suggest where to go from here?
Thanks.Comment

by Bios-NewbieHi all,
I got the following Laptop from a good friend. She told me, that she couldn't boot after a bios update from huawei.
Only CapsLock, Shift and FN lit up. Fan went on for a few seconds, Power-Led blinks and it shut down. This behavior looped and after 4-5 times it would stay off.
She gave the laptop to a repair shop and the guy told her he would try to replace the Bios-Chip.
After she got it back it wouldnt boot at all. Repair guy said it is not worth it to investigate any further and that the mainboard is dead.
The Mainboard seems alright....-

by macabookHello everyone,
Iβm currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, Iβm at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Hereβs a full breakdown:
𧩠Initial Issue- Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
- External display (HDMI) shows

by NielsTHHi forum members.
I hope you can help me with the next issue.
I've got an old Asus K75V (K75VJ) laptop, that I updated to Windows11.
The upgrade itself was succesfull, but had trouble installing new security updates.
After a lot of Windows troubleshooting and no success, I took a look at the Asus support site and found new Bios version.
K75VJ - Support
When downloading the bios update, the name of the download was "K45VMAS233", and made me causious and doubtful.
When I opened the Bios and loaded the file, I checked the current version and the...-
