Re: Dell Latitude 7400 Bios Password 8FC8 Suffix
They are generators for all previous tags but not for this :/
Best shot is to downgrade it and then use generator on old prefix / tag
Of course if booting is possible not everything locked !!!
Good luckComment

Re: Dell Latitude 7400 Bios Password 8FC8 Suffix
@Gobbla
As far as I've read, 8FC8 suffix is totally new and not an upgrade like 6FF1 (upgraded from 1D3B or 1F66), or BF97 suffix upgraded from 6FF1, so downgrading the bios will not do any good in my opinion, at least not for 8FC8.
@Karol
Probably your best bet is to register computer at Dell while still under warranty, then contact them in a few days to ask for the master password.Comment

Re: Dell Latitude 7400 Bios Password 8FC8 Suffix
A couple of questions...
First, how would one go about figuring out a password for the bios if it is generated from a combination of the prefix and the suffix? I have the source code for the password generator that works for the older bios suffixes and I have looked at the code but I don't really understand everything that is going on there. I compiled the code and ran the app, of course it didn't work for the 8fc8 suffix so I have been checking back on this thread regularly. I have been a programmer of sorts for quite a while, but I'm only just now learning C, something I should have done many years ago but didn't. The question is however, what do you have to have and what do you have to do once you have the required pieces in order to figure out how to generate the password?
Second, to reprogram an EEPROM or similar chip, do you have to de-solder the chip from the motherboard and then place it into an external programming device, or can it be flashed somehow while it is still soldered on the motherboard?
I'm just trying to learn some of these things, at the same time I need to be able to access bios on this PC I picked up at an auction and currently I cannot. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.A wise man once said that an error doesn't become a mistake until you refuse to correct it. I subscribe to that philosophy.Comment

Re: Dell Latitude 7400 Bios Password 8FC8 Suffix
As I said in previous deleted post, here on badcaps forum, all I do is for free.
@dimkka you have the file in private. Please confirm here if you succeed to unlock your Dell.
And please tell if I asked for money.

by jhanraHi there masters, recently i got a dell 5400 chromebook and wanted to install windows, i searched the internet and i found out other people also wanting a UEFI bios for this model, i searched there is a R/W legacy, but there are bugs like keyboard/trackpad not working, and hard to install.
so i decided to try to port one, this bios is based on dell 5400 windows version, i am testing this bios for a week now an found only a little to no bug at all in windows 10, or only a minor issue
in windows 11 sound driver compatibility, but overall its ok, for me i can deal with it, 😅😅😅...-

by anlsmithI am trying to remove the BIOS password for a Dell Latitude 5430 motherboard LA-L591P. So far I think that I have located the BIOS chip but NeoProgrammer says that is detects 3 chips. I have attached the dump from each one. Are any of these the BIOS file? Service Tag: 1DMC1T3. If nyone knows the exact location of the bios chip as well I would greatly appreciate it...

by TripTopHi
i have dell latitude E7270 with following symptoms:
- takes long time to restart.
- sometimes powers on and then off
- sometimes while working it just dies,
From googling online bios clean could possible resolve this?
i was able to save bios and was going to try bios clean myself but get an below error when i drop it in ME analyzer.(unsure whether this sometimes occurs or could be due to bad/corrupt bios)
As ME analyzer gave me an error i just decided to write bios with a cleaned bios from E7270 bios post.
I reinstall...-

by iwuHello,
I am not experienced in electronics, but I really want to check if my idea is possible.
I have motherboard replaced from Dell Latitude 5520 (11th gen on i5 CPU).
BIOS/UEFI access on that MB/PC is blocked by password which I want to get it know - even if I need some bruteforcing or stupid manual activities.
There was no computrace activated.
I was happy when I saw many posts about removing BIOS password based on .bin file dummps. I wanted to go little further - get to know the password from the dump.
