Hi, I'm having this annoying problem where each time I power on the computer, this tamper error message comes up, forcing me to hit escape so that i can boot to desktop.

I've tried enabling and disabling this option in bios, resetting bios to default, setting and deleting supervisor passwords, none of that worked.

I've also tried removing and putting the cover back on, checked for any visible spacing on the laptop case, no luck.

I'm not that frustrated, but it still is kind of annoying.

    Anyone got any ideas?

it's not a bios problem, it's the switch itself. Short pins 2-3 and 1-4 of SW1401, see schematic.

There was no password until I removed the bottom case. Now it wants the service password. Is there anyone who can solve the password at this stage?

you said in previous post that you removed bottom case before ... Maybe is password you set, as well as you said in previous post. So now you don't have that warning with tamper detected anymore?

no my real purpose was to do maintenance on the computer.
that's why I opened the bottom case and pressed sw1401 it didn't work
i tried a few bios dumps because of this
but the password protection didn't work
it's totally my fault I've never encountered such a problem before.

I really don't understand, you contradict yourself in your posts. So, from the beginning: you have a T470p with NO BIOS PASSWORD, only with tamper warning at boot, right? Well, put back original bios, short pads of tamper switch and problem solved! And you don't answer the questions to make me understand your problem, is the tamper warning gone after shorting pads? You just rise another questions every post you make ...

Use lenovo bios autopatcher to remove password if you don't remember password you set.

Yes it was. Yes the sabotage was fixed when I made the switch pins. But now the only problem is that the supervisor password is stuck and I tried to remove it but couldn't. My last request from you is what can we do to remove the supervisor password?
