    Bios_corrupted while updating G7-1135sd

Ok , so I started this thread on the 1st of November. But today I notice that this is the section , to ask for laptop bios.

Ok , so I now had time to take out the MB and read the BIOS chip.I hope that it all was done in a good way.

But I also notice that there is a new section , where you can ask for laptop bios files.
Not sure though what to do now.

Because now I want to put here the corrupted bios file from this laptop - and maybe someone can fix it.

    First the info : DAO R22 MB 6D1 - Rev : D - R 22
    Bios chip : Winbond 25Q16BV SIG / 1120

        Re: Bios_corrupted while updating G7-1135sd

My efforts to restore the bios firmware :

I initially tried to read and flash the bios chip , while it was still on the MB.
It looked as if it was working , but it was not !!!

I use the CH341A usb programmer - and using the cable with the clip. But I didn't see the manufacturer and the chip type in the left side of the flash program. After pressing the Detect button.

It also did not see the available bit size and the Original bit size of this chip.
So , at last I took the chip from the MB and I put it in the chip adapter.
You then put this adapter in the USB programmer.

With this , now it could detect the chip and it showed the manufacturer and chip name (although it detected the chip as Winbond - W25Q16V and not the VB version)
I did this 2x with the same result.

Furthermore , the led which shows if the chip is connected and if it is being read or flashed , was Always red on my CH341A.
In some Youtube videos you can see that it turns green - when reading /writing / etc

I used the top bios 0165CF6A and I verified after it was programmed and all was good.
So , put the chip back onto the MB , and it is working .... !!!

Now I need to fill in the UUID , system info , etc.

Glad to have it working again ...

Glad to see its working. The CH341A has its quirks, especially trying to get a clip working. Use NBDmifit to fill your DMI info https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=69204
