Hi! I have a MacBook Air 2015, that will not POST.
It swiches on, fan comes on and at normal speed (SMC --> OK), but it will not POST or boot.
I suspect a BIOS/EFI issue.
Please find the dump attached. If someone could provide me with a clean BIN or clean my dump, I would be very happy.

Thread merged..next time please look for a thread with the name and model, motherboard model of the laptop, and post there, if you can't find it, then make a new thread..

Hello everyone,
I would like to ask for help verifying the EFI/BIOS dump for a MacBook Air 13" 2015.
MACBOOK not install recovery internet, no back entry etc.
Model:
- MacBook Air 13" Early 2015
- Board number: 820-00165-A
- Model ID: MBA71
- SPI chip: 25Q64 (8 MB)
Attached is the original BIOS dump read directly from the board.
Could someone please check:
- if the EFI region is intact,
- if NVRAM/Recovery areas are valid,
- if the dump is complete and not corrupted,
- and whether this image is safe to rebuild/clean?
Any help or confirmation would be greatly appreciated.

You can use the bios at post 67 ,it has clean ME firmware. You will have to change the serial number to yours and modify the checksum, you can use MuertoGB`s Mac EFI

Hi there! I have not so usual situation...
I have 2015 MacBook Air A1466 EMC 2925 with 8Gb of RAM. It seams that I've killed it by bad SSD adapter. It starts, cooler works... But no chime, screen is black. SMC reset seams works, NVRAM reset doesnt works...
My repair guy has checked all possible. It's all ok with power. The last idea - I could kill EFI firmware... So, I need a firmware of EFI to check it. I have a programmer. But I don't have a similar laptop now to download it and compare

I have problem with Macbook Pro 15" 2017, model 2017, MB code 820-00928.
I bought it as broken with some artefacts on the screen, first I thought that this is problem with ribbon cable but after inspectiing ribbon cable I know it is fine. I tried to reinstall macOs and then I figured out that this must be something with GPU as installation freezes at the end (when drivers are loaded). I installed Windows and was able to install every each of drivers except GPU driver, as soon as I tried to install GPU driver - black screen and restart.

I received a 2013 Macbook Air A1466 820-3437-B motherboard with serial number C02L6GQ9FSV8 that came in WITHOUT a bios chip. I got a new bios chip and reprogrammed it. Macbook now powers on but doesn't boot the SSD. I've flashed a ton of bios but still same problem. Windows installation works with this Macbook but never a mac installation. Unfortunately, since I didn't receive this macbook with a bios chip, I don't have the original bios. What can I do now?... -
Hey folks, came across a 2017 13" MacBook Air A1466 820-00165-A system that does not power on. When charger is plugged in, it will show a green then orange light, and eventually green light as the battery gets charged. Just no fan spin or response when pressing power button.
Tried SMC Reset and NVRAM/PRAM reset etc, nothing.
Took it apart, and no signs of corrosion anywhere, trackpad cable/keyboard cable all look good. Flipped board over, and U8040 is cracked, see attached. This appears to be a load switch for the audio system. I've ordered a replacement component...04-20-2026, 03:30 PM -
Hi
I have a MacBook Air that was completely dead on arrival. During inspection I found a shorted capacitor near the SMC, which appeared to be the main fault. After replacing the capacitor, the short on the rail was cleared. The board then started recognizing the charger, charging normally, and the machine powered on. Initial testing outside the chassis showed normal behaviour.
However, after full reassembly a new issue appeared. There is no boot chime and no image on the screen, only the fan spins. The power button responds normally, it powers on without the charger connected...
