Is there a way how to get rid of Acer E1-510 BIOS password?

Got this laptop that it was crapping about boot device. There was likely that EFI crap with 8. I thought it is totaly dead as it did nothing at all. Now I found the RAM was not seated well and likely the module is bad it was still behaving strange, with different RAM it at least POSTS.

However it does not let me into setup as I don't have the password. I've already tried connecting the CLRP1 pin, ehck I even put a solder bridge accross and tried turning it on as some ideas suggest. It was shutting down with the bridge but the password is still there after I desoldered it.

So I went ahead to check the battery. To my surprise it is some small one with electrodes point-welded to it…and one of the electrodes was not even touching it! Must have gotten loose so there was no power from the RTC/BIOS battery. That's likely why it stopped booting all of sudden, crapping the boot device settings. However, the password is still there and I cannot change it!

Yes, it wants master password and displays some code. Is there some app which can crack it from the code?

Yeah it did the trick, thanks.

Just that now I need to get the hard drive back and hope the 8 will still run so I can flash the BIOS to a version which supports normal booting. There is this UFO crap and this is basically going in circles if you don't already have a system in UFO mode.

I can disable the secure stuff, but the compatibility/normal/legacy whatever you call it requires at least BIOS 2.11. Before that the option is not available, that's it!

You can download ver 2.14 from this link. Thats an update file only. You will need to merge it with your existing bios.

If you are not comfortable doing this, then post your bios here. I'll upgrade it to ver 2.14

I am aware of that, just need to get the hard-drive with the OS back, that'll be the easiest solution.

Startup repair might fix it if you can force it into safe mode.Remove the battery and plug adapter in,then when windows starts to load pull the adapter out,do that 3 times and it should force it into safe mode, from there run startup repair, or chkdsk from the command prompt: chkdsk C: /f /r

Wut? I don't have the hard drive, thought I said that.

The device previously appeared dead, but it was just RAM pulled out and (possibly) bad too. Plus maybe it was also behaving silly because of the CMOS battery broken.

IC. I've put the drive into an USB box so the owners could D/L the data and kept the laptop for scrap, but I later tried some more things and it finally POSTed again. So now I need to get it back and solve the boot device troubles.

Do you intend to put win 8 back on,and if so do you already know how to get the win 8 from the bios,or did you get the win 8 key from the hard drive before you gave it back .

I intend to put the hard drive inside and boot. We'll see how this intention goes
