Hello everyone,
I'm working on the following machine:- Model: Asus A56CB-XX175H
- Serial Number: D3N0CV25716912G
- Mainboard: K56CM Main Board REV. 2.0
- BIOS Chip: 25Q64FVSI6
I performed four separate BIOS dumps and compared them using WinMerge. All the files are identical. Problem Description:
The laptop behaves inconsistently:- Sometimes it powers on, but the screen stays black, with only the power LED and the power button lit.
- Other times, it starts and works normally without any issues.
- Occasionally, it powers on, the power and hard drive LEDs light up for a few seconds, and the numeric keypad LED turns on. Then, after a few seconds, the hard drive LED turns off, leaving only the power and numeric keypad LEDs lit.
- In other cases, the screen remains black, but the laptop boots and displays output on an external monitor.
- The machine works normally when it manages to boot successfully.
- The black screen issue tends to happen more often after the laptop has been without power for a while.
- The CMOS battery is new.
I've attached the BIOS dump for reference.
I'm hoping the issue is related to the BIOS, but if anyone has encountered this problem before, I'd greatly appreciate advice on how to proceed with the repair.
Thank you!
