Hi, I have this machine on the work bench (Lenovo IdeaPad/NM-D031/GS454/GS554/GV450/GV550 board, no DGPU).
I’m trying to diagnose a power-on issue and I would appreciate some guidance or a clean BIOS rebuild.
Firmware chip is Gigadevice GD25B127DSIG
ideapad 3-15IIL05 Laptop - Type 81WE
Serial number: PF315B10
Model: 81WE01L7LM
Any ideas would be appreciated.
I’m trying to diagnose a power-on issue and I would appreciate some guidance or a clean BIOS rebuild.
- Board powers on correctly
- All power rails remain stable
- No video is ever produced
- System always shuts down after ~20-25 seconds (very consistent timing) and requires full power cycle to restart.
- BIOS was previously reflashed with a known-good image and cleaned ME region (when reflashing with clean ME region it power cycles several times but then shuts down and returns to the same behaviour), i am not 100% sure if this bios image is compatible or suitable as this board has many variations.
- Without SPI BIOS installed, the board does not even light LEDs or start power-up sequence
- ADPIN / VIN: stable ~20.2V
- 3.3V_ALW and 5V_ALW are present and stable
- 3VALW_PCH and 1.8V_PCH are present and stable
- SYS_RESET# stays at 3.3V stable
- PCH_PWROK is stable
- SLP_S3# remains high
- All standby rails behave normally
- System draws progressive current (~0.65A first seconds → ~0.9A → finally 0.350A briefly before shutdown)
- CPU warms up during this time.
- VCCIO is stable (~0.9V)
- Multiple RAM sodimm modules tested with no change
- Onboard RAM disabled via BIOS (same symptom when sodimm slot is populated, without any ram board stays on indefinitely with fixed power draw)
- LCD_VDD is present (3.3V)
- Panel power rail is present (~19–20V)
- No backlight activity
- No video output (internal or external HDMI, even with internal panel disconnected)
