post merged..next time look for a thread with the name and model, motherboard model of the laptop, and post there, if you can't find it, then make a new thread.. -
Type the laptop serial number, full name and model, motherboard model, etc.
Please read the forum rules..https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...before-posting
Your backup is empty (FF FF FF ....), the clip didn't make proper contact, don't forget to use 1.8V adapter or you'll damage BIOS chip/motherboard/CPU; next time please compress as .rar (not rename .bin to .rar) -
Hi everyone,
I have an ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401QH that I've locked myself out of with a forgotten BIOS password. I've successfully read the BIOS chip using a CH341A programmer with a SOIC-8 clip running flashrom on Linux.
Details:- Model: ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401QH
- BIOS chip: Winbond W25Q128.W (16MB)
- Programmer: CH341A with SOIC-8 clip
- Software: flashrom v1.6.0 on Kali Linux
- Dump verified with matching MD5 checksums across two reads
Could someone help me strip the BIOS password from my dump? Backup is attached.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the help
The serial number is fixed, but the SSD issue persists. I'll have to dig in for some hardware repair!

Try anyway, but the SSD not detected I don't think it's a BIOS issue
BIOS extracted from ASUS website + what's left of the DMI area (no S/N), have to find a dump of same model to edit S/N

BIOS ver. 410

Hi All,
I was told to post my corrupted bios dump here. My Zephyrus G14 GA401QH-211 is missing the serial number in the bios. NVME drives can't be detected by the bios either. The bios version is 410.

by TecnicaNTTHi all,
I got a Lenovo Thinkbook 16P G2 ACH on the bench with a botched BIOS (somehow my client blanked it). I restored the laptop and got it up and running with original BIOS from Lenovo Support website.
My problem is now that the machine details are missing in the BIOS (Serial Number, MTM, etc.)
I tried to write the details with the Lenovo Uone Tool but had now luck. It is giving me an error: "ERROR: Locate protocol with LenovoEeprom, Status=[e]. EEPROM fail when reading or writing data."
I am now asking here for help if anyone knows how to do this in...-

by acerRIHi everyone,
We have in company to custom PCs with Gigabyte B760 GAMING X (1.0). When i export hwhash for enrolling PC in azure, i got computer name as MMDEFAULTSTRING.
PCs wiht this name are not compliant with company policy, number should be MMDxxxxxx (xxxxxx is serial number of mb).
I have found that is possible to embbed in BIOS serial number so when i exporting, it will get proper computer name.
Does anyone have know if somehow do that, maybe with some hexeditor, because i have found that some specialized tools are needed.

by WahazHello,
I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....-

by Friend33Hello,
I have an EliteBook x360 G3 where I had to replace the motherboard. Everything is working fine and there are no errors during boot. However, I have the issue that the serial number in the BIOS is incorrect. When I run the DMI tool under Windows, I get an error stating that I am not in Unlocked Mode and therefore cannot make any changes. I was able to change the Asset Tag directly in the BIOS. Now I am wondering, can I simply read the BIOS chip, change the serial number with a hex editor, and write it back, or what other options do I have? The old motherboard did not work at... -
