    Hi everyone,

I am working on an HP ENVY x360 15 2-in-1 Laptop which is currently stuck at 5V / 0.11A (No 20V negotiation, completely dead).

The board is clean with no physical or liquid damage. All major power rails seem to be fine, and I can confirm that the 3.3V and 5V always-on (ALW) standby voltages are fully present at the inductors. The CPU low-resistance profile is normal (around 20 ohms), so it is not a dead short. I suspect a corrupted BIOS or Intel ME region loop is causing the Power Delivery controller to lock up at 5V.

I have successfully desoldered the UC1 BIOS chip. Upon microscopic inspection, the exact part number is Winbond 25R128JVSN (128Mbit / 16MB, SOIC-8 208-mil). I have dumped the original corrupted backup with a verified 3.3V programmer.

Could someone please help me fix this dump and clear the ME region? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Laptop & Board Details:
    • Model: HP ENVY x360 15 2-in-1 Laptop (Intel 12th Gen)
    • Product ID: 6L2E9PA#ABJ
    • Serial Number: CND3452WTK
    • Motherboard Model: Compal LA-M024P
    • Revision: Rev:1B (2022-03-25)
    • BIOS Chip: Winbond W25R128JVSN (16MB)
    • Board ID (BID): 089BA

Please find my original bad 16MB DUMP attached below. Thank you in advance!

        Hi peste,

Thank you so much for creating the clean ME BIOS file for me! I truly appreciate your time and expertise.

I have an important update on the behavior of this HP ENVY x360 13 (LA-M024P Rev:1B) after flashing your BIOS.

After I flashed the new BIOS, I first tested the motherboard standalone, and it successfully negotiated up to 20V. I thought it was fully fixed, but once I assembled the laptop back into the chassis, the power delivery dropped back to the 5V / 0.11A lock again.

To isolate the issue, I disconnected the internal cables one by one. When I disconnected the main display eDP cable, the motherboard successfully negotiated back up to 20V (standby current at 20V / 0.03A - 0.04A), but it still does not boot up completely.

At this point, I am stuck and not sure where the hardware fault is located. If you or anyone in the community has any advice on what to check next, please let me know.

Thank you again for your amazing help with the BIOS!

        Best regards,

if there are no more bios problems, please move the discussion to the main forum, that's where hardware problems are solved, here is the "bios only requests" section...https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...mobile-devices
