Re: HP DV5-1118CA weird bios boot menu
thanks unique. it will be my second option.
Update:
Try to flash bios and it was successful and it manage to show the boot options but something came up. Got a "Serial not found" message on top of the boot screen. I downloaded bios file directly from hp and from the exact model. I don't know how to edit stuffs in programmer. Is there a way to modify it. thanks manComment

Re: HP DV5-1118CA weird bios boot menu
Yes. You will find GUID and LanID on a label on the motherboard. The LanID will be close to the network port.Originally posted by PeteS in CARemember that by the time consequences of a short-sighted decision are experienced, the idiot who made the bad decision may have already been promoted or moved on to a better job at another company.Comment

Re: HP DV5-1118CA weird bios boot menu
What would result if I didn't input GUID? I find mac address of wifi module but for lan cannot see it on case. lots of numbers which I think are part no's. Just finished installing windows 7 on this machine. I'll try to look for it again. thanks guys!Comment

Re: HP DV5-1118CA weird bios boot menu
It's not on case...these numbers are ussualy found on the motherbard itself...look for stickers with barcode...
Oh...the guid is basically mac address for firewire and obviously lan mac is for lan connection...
If you don't put them in they won'T work at all...eg internet won't connect via cable...not sure about firewire...you must put at least lan mac...if you can't find that use any random mac but never the same as wifi mac, cause one of them wont connect...Comment

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.
I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...-

by eltano4i201) Error trying to enter the BIOS
--> [F2] won't let me enter the BIOS. To enter the BIOS, I had to create a shortcut and then type C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /r /fw /t 1 in the destination. This forced it to restart and enter the BIOS.
Once inside, I went to the BOOT menu, but, surprise, it wasn't there. I got the following message:
BOOT PRIORITY ORDER (img-05)
1- Windows Boot Manager
2- SATA HDD
3- NETWORK
4- Debian
2) Error trying to access the BOOT MENU

Hi, I have a few of these & they came with a custom bios boot logo, no passwords etc.
2 x were brand new unused but with custom boot logo, 1 I installed Windows/ran updates then it bricked itself. 1 wouldn't get past the custom bios boot logo.
The third I loaded windows, took a backup of the bios chip, then tried to flash several different clean bios's via programmer which all caused it to not boot. I tried to reflash the original bios both using clip & desoldering but...-

I own a Lenovo ideapad v310-15IKB with an i5 7th generation with only Intel graphics configuration.
Now the heart of the problem is that I don't know when or how it happened but I suddenly started getting distortion in the graphics output on the LCD. This basically meant a black screen full of flickering multicolored short horizontal lines. This would happen 30-60 minutes after booting and using it normally.
I run Windows 10 20H build so I thought it was just a Windows update issue or graphics driver outdated issue.
I managed to run Windows troubleshooting and...-
