Nitro 5 AN517-54-51RQ (LA-L181P) Dead after messing around with bootable bios mod!

Hey guys! I've recently found out this amazing forum where people talk and discuss about electronics repairs and i'm actually amazed with everything that here's have to offer.

Oh well, i came here looking for a simple bios file in order to get my main laptop working again, but after a while trying to figure out what the hell was going on, i'm quite concerned that it would be worse than i tought. I was fooling around with Mr. Smokeless's UMAF BIOS mod, looking for a way to enable CSM compatibility and legacy boot on my device.

    Device specs:
    AN517-54-51RQ (LA-L181P)
    I5-11400H
    RTX 3050
    BIOS: W25Q128JVSQ

    SN: NHQEFAL0044020018D9Z00
    SNID: 402000397935

After messing around for a while, i've found about those overclock options that were patched with that bootable thing, and then i decided to enter that level. I've done a ton of overclock over the years, but that would be the first time in a gaming laptop. The thing is, after i enable the "unlock overclock" (wasn't exactly that but it was something like that) option at the modded bios, the damn thing refuses to turn on ever since.

Here's the symptoms: It power led turns on, keyboard led's turn on, then fan goes at lowest RPM possible (barely audible), and nothing anymore. Sometimes, after 4~5 secs, fans stop and then nothing anymore. GPU or CPU heats quite a bit whenever i left that thing on for a while, and it won't even get the fans spinning to compensate. Weirdest pc symptom i've ever seen.

I tried to reflash BIOS using my CH431a and SOC8 clamp, but with no luck. I thought since i was fooling around with the BIOS, it might have corrupted it, but at least for now, no luck. Tried to turn on without RAM, battery, CMOS battery, without any NVME storage, and no luck or change on the symptoms. The only thing i've managed to do that would turn the fans to takeoff speed, was turning it on with crysis mode, pressing POWER while holding FN+ESC, and i've tried a ton of different bioses, with different names, UEFI file directly on a USB stick, and nothing. Not even a change in it's behavior. Resetting the battery and things while holding power for abour 30 secs changes nothing as well.

Right now i'm waiting for ACER to answer my technical support request, but i definetly am intrigued with that problem - since i'm posting on this forum, it's fair to guess that i'm more of a DIY guy and kinda figures out a way to repair my stuff - but it's quite sad the thought of "no laptop for you" for about 30 days or so.

Attatched, i will link my original bios file that i got with my ch431a, and if there's any aditional infos that somebody wanna know, just ask! I will do the best to solve that thing.

Well, what to say? It worked flawlessly! I installed de TI version, and it rebooted like as when we have a cmos reset, and it just got working. But i still have no idea what did you have done to make this magic happen! Thanks a lot, dude.

Could you explain or send me a link to learn more about exactly what did you do? I'm actually really intrested right now, ive spent 10 hours yesterday looking for a solution and would appreciate it if you could teach me.

Again, i'm so grateful! Thanks, dude! (wrote through AN517-54!)

Edit: Btw, is there any way to enable CSM compatibility and legacy boot at all on these new laptops?

you have to set Supervisor Password in bios in order to enable greyed options.

First of all, thanks for the answer!

Well, that's actually the first thing i ever do! Don't wanna anyone of my dumb friends messing around with my settings, but the only option that it still gets grayed out is the boot mode, even with secure boot and tpm sets to disable. That's why i was going kinda deep into bios mods!

Nope. UEFI boot mode still grayed out. Even with all possible passwords set, secure boot and tpm off, and even after saving changes and reboot. I wonder if it has something to do with the two NVMe ssd's that i got installed. Maybe it needs an SATA drive to work out?

                ASUS TP500LA BIOS request/repair/merge?
                by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
                Some issues
                A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

                Things I tried

1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...

[REQUEST] Dell G3 3579 BIOS Password & AMI Protected Range/BIOS Guard Unlock
                by zenius
Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 (serial number: MP2BFZEF) bios request
                by Wahaz
                Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

Acer Nitro 50-640E Corrupted BIOS Dump
                by James194zt
                Hi,

My daughter has accidentally managed to kill her Acer gaming desktop it has a blank screen after updating and when you press the power button the fans spin, light comes on and it makes 1 long and 1 short beep and no attempt to boot.

All basic troubleshooting has been done we replaced CPU, GPU and RAM from a working machine and no joy, I also noticed a post on here with the same issue and it was the BIOS. I am pretty sure also because it was doing a BIOS update that stopped it working, she knocked the keyboard out by accident during the update and the screen just went...
