Where is the bios on this laptop..there's a lot of winbond ic on this laptop. There is 3 in bottom . And 1 on top

I see it. The EC bios. Is at the bottom and the top is the main bios. Am I right?

hey guys,

i have been working on for days a Hp Zbook Firefly 14 G8 - mobo: corvette-605qa321330-mb-a01.

Doesn't Boot - only thing working is an LED flashing orange on/off, that's it

- have tried cleaning the Main bios (ME region) which seems to have gone smoothly enough, and have re-soldered it back onto the board, but then I spotted an almost identical Bios chip near the EC on other side, but I don't know what is needed to be done with that bios ?


- i have attached my original Main and EC bios's (they are both 32mb! chips)
- i have also attached my ME cleaned main bios. maybe someone could please check i cleaned it right ?
- I need 32mb EC bios file checked too please

motherboard model and revision: corvette-605qa321330-mb-a01 (no BV or Schem's are available unfortunately)

post merged..next time look for a thread with the name and model, motherboard model of the laptop, and post there, if you can't find it, then make a new thread..

My buddy bought an HP ZBook second hand and it had a bios pwd. He extracted the bios chips in an effort to bypass the bios pwd however it didn’t work and I’m convinced he simply didn’t have a valid set of files for the chips(my assumption) what I really need is 2 good files for It.. also will a cheap Ch341 do the trick if I’m careful and verify the chip prior to reinstallation? Thought I heard somewhere that the 2nd bios needed a different programmer?

Before doing anything I just would like someone to confirm me what I need to do:

I buyed a T48 programmer.

I need to read the ec chip (how do I recognize ec chip on board ? Can you confirm its always at the same place on zbooks?)

Then I run a rcunlocker on it. Wich will give me a new bios that I will write on the ec chip.

Then I start computer, enter bios and reset factory default? Is that correct?

Its a second hand pc from my my dad previous work. He wants dual boot but dont know the bios password. I cant boot on USB drive. When I install debian on internal disk. Bios is ok to boot it. When I install windows, it does not work(it says something like the os did not authentify or something alike). So I want to reset bios password to be able to remove what's preventing me to run windows on the machine.

post the contents of the bios chip even if it is corrupted..

The bios chip must be unsoldered from the board before writing or reading..
do not use the clip, you may have errors..if you do not have anything to unsolder it with,
solder wires between the programmer and the bios chip..

you need an SPI programmer

STILL PASSWORD PRESENT. WHEN I PROGRAMMED THIS BIOS AND THEN TURN ON. IT SAY-"BIOS RECOVERY IS IN PROGRESS",

THEN "THE BIOS HAS RECOVERED ITS IDENTITY DATA FROM THE EMBEDDED CONTROLLER DUE TO DATA MISMATCH,"

LOOKS I HAVE GIVEN WRONG FILE.
