What about a a service tag with asterix on it...
I have a message:
"HARD DRIVE #***5VG9JVLB-2A7B, THE SYSTEM PRIMARY HDD IS PROTECTED BY A PASSWORD "

I am having a bad time googling it. I cannot find anything that mentions ASTERIX as part of the service tag.

When I tried the application mentioned under the link below it says the service tag can only have 7 digits. Mine have 8digits-2A7B

It is Case Sensitive
Also it needs to be entered on a Qwerty Keyboard

Those codes you got are case sensitive, also the new ones you get will be the same
