ThinkPad 13 Gen 2 BIOS recovery using USB

    Hello fellow humans!

I want to recover my ThinkPad 13 Gen 2 (20J2) using a USB Drive. Does anyone have experience doing this and if they do can they please list the steps required? This would be a huge help.

I am also considering doing it the hard way (Flash using a CH341a) if I can't recover the laptop using this method and for that I will require a .BIN file which I have downloaded of this forum. If I do the BIOS flash using this method is there any way to keep my windows key and the serial number?

Thanks advance for any help/guidance that you can provide!

Use CH341A and backup your bios (even if it's corrupted) and post it here.

I don't have the CH341a or a backup but I do have a .bin file of my laptop's bios should I upload it here?

Acer Aspire 5920G - Requesting Modded BIOS (9600M GT) from .WPH for CH341A Flasher
        by EbrahimSiami
        Hello everyone,
I need help with my Acer Aspire 5920G laptop. Its original GeForce 8600M GT graphics card failed, so I replaced it with an Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT MXM card.

**Problem:** The laptop powers on, but there is no display (black screen) on either the internal LCD or external monitor. This indicates a BIOS compatibility issue with the new graphics card.

**What I have tried so far:**
        1. I have my **original stock BIOS dump (1MB .BIN file)** from my laptop, which works and allows the laptop to power on normally (but no display with 9600M...

My pc updated bios through Windows Update and I was greeted with BLACK SCREEN WITH CPU FAN MAX SPEED. I don't think there is even a screen signal, because it triggers my monitor for a couple seconds and then the monitor turns off. I tried the other outputs as well.
        1. I tried clearing bios, resetting bios, removed the CMOS battery, removed m.2 ssd, wifi, and ram. Still black screen with CPU fan blasting.
        2. I tried using the Lenovo BIOS CD and BIOS USB, but neither worked. At least I couldn't get anything to work.
        3. I could only locate two chips that look like bios chips. Could someone verify this

Should I buy a Lenovo Thinkpad E495 with bios password?
        by RMDUiFT
Good day. I apologize if I posted this in the wrong topic. I saw somebody selling a Thinkpad E495 with a Ryzen 3500U CPU near me. In the pictures the laptop is running windows 10. I contacted the seller and asked a few questions about upgradability and if it has a bios password on it. He confirmed it has a bios password. I searched through the forum, I found a guide regarding removing the bios password using the autopatcher, I also found a thread with the e495 where people requested help with unlocking the bios password.

        I have a few questions:
        • If I would buy this laptop and have

Help with corrupted bios for ThinkPad P1 Gen 4
        by trepachka
Hello, I have this ThinkPad P1 Gen 4 that has what I perceive corrupted bios. Computer charges and upon pressing the power button, the keyboard lights up briefly, both fans begin to spin and the cpu gets warm. However, I get no post. I do get color palette cycling all sorts of colors on the screen when I press Fn-Cntrl-Power key combo at the same time (standard Lenovo screen test). So, this tells me the issue is with bios. All voltages are present including CPU, GPU and memory voltages.

The bios file is a little tricky. I believe it has 2 identical 256Mb chips next to each other (photo...

Need BIOS for HP Pavilion 15-n058sr recovery - Caps Lock blinking twice
        by sssssssssssssss
        Hello everyone,

I'm dealing with a classic BIOS corruption issue on an HP Pavilion 15-n058sr and hoping someone here might have the original BIOS file or point me in the right direction.

        Symptoms:
        • Laptop powers on but no display at all (completely black screen)
        • Caps Lock blinks twice with a pause, then repeats continuously
        • F12 LED stays on permanently
        • No POST, no boot sequence, nothing on screen

Based on HP diagnostic codes, the 2-blink Caps Lock pattern indicates BIOS corruption/failure.

        What I've tried:
        • Hardware reset (battery removal, power
