    Lenovo T590 bios

hello guys, can someone check the dump?

when power button is pressed, the keyboard and caps and power button went on for a second, and then died... then i tried flashing dumps i found, and now only gives 3 power light flashes when charger connected... i even restored original dump, and it only lights up power button 3 times....no keyboard light or caps or anything...

    the chip is 25Q256JVEQ, 3.3V

    the board is FT490/ FT492/FT590/FT591 NM-B901

the original dump is in the attachment

    i need to explain something,

so first time i extracted the dump, i did it with 1.8V adapter by mistake, and then i used the ordinary ch341 to extract the dump...

and i tried the ordinary 3.3V dump back, and it doesn't work, but the one i extracted with 1.8V adapter works like it did in the first place, (lights, and fan spin for a second)

i compared the hex files, and they are not the same! altough the size in .bin is the same, 32.768, when packed in .rar it's not the same!

here are both files, someone please explain how is this possible?

and please check my dumps...the one named 1.8V gives some signs of life,so i would say that one should work.

i've tried that dump, along with few others i found here on badcaps...non work ,just 3 blinks on power button, except the original i dumped from the chip that acts like i described...keyboard light and power light and fan spin for a second...

i didn't know that the exact type and serial is important, but here it is : TYPE: 20N4-000DSC S/N PF-1QDB04

will give it a try when i get home!

Have you found something corrupted in the dump?

i forgot to mention, i also have a small dump 1mbit, but i think that one isn't the issue...i will give this a try,and report back...

This chip is for Thunderbolt (as far as I know), so solder it back.

About your Main BIOS, you can try this New BIOS, I build it using your file from post #2 "t590 orig 3.3V".

I think your CPU should be "i5-8265U" or "i7-8565U".

yes it's i7 8gen...that 3.3V that i posted didn't work at all, only three power button flashes,no reaction to any lights, not turning any voltages except 3.3V and 5V on board...but i will give it a try...if you could take a look at the one marked 1.8V...i think ,that one should be repairable!

The 1.8v file isn't good at all, you can't read a chip that needs 3.3v with 1.8v adapter.

                        Re: Lenovo T590 bios

but i did download it with 1.8V adapter, i am sorry i didn't do a chip detection to see what neo programmer sees... i know that it needs at least 2.7V to read 3.3V chip, but somehow it did it...and i tried to compare dumps in hex editor and same chip, different data...one read with 1.8V, other with 3.3V...

I tried the dump you posted, it's like all the others, it doesn't work, it's always the same... keyboard light, power light, fan spin for a second an that's all...i am thinking there is something else wrong...i disconnected everything from the board, only left power button and charger...the same...

I opened another thread in troubleshooting section, since i doubt the bios is an issue, there i will explain some measurements...

                          Re: Lenovo T590 bios

i found something odd in the schematics...

on VCC, pin 8, there is a diode ,before diode there is 3.3V,after diode 1.5V on the VCC pin, so the diode is bad, i shorted it and now i get the 3.3V on VCC, but symptoms are the same, it still doesn't work...could the chip itself be damaged?Because the erasure and blank check and programming and verify goes all ok...i got the error first time i deleted the chip something about the erasure control and registry bits....i forgot what it was, i just pressed ok...

Good evening, Could you please try to fix my bios. Motherboard: Nm-b901 rev 1.0 (T490-20n3), I lost the serial number.

removed the bios with Ch341a, and it corrupted. laptop lights up, I hear a beep and turns off.

                              Lenovo T590
                              Model 20N5S0W300
                              SN PF1BXUWM
                              Mobo FP531

In attempting to bypass the BIOS password, I misinterpreted the instructions as referring to CPU gen instead of Thinkpad gen. As a result of my error, I followed the DXE password bypass driver injection instructions and flashed a new BIOS created by the Lenovo Autopatcher python script. When attempting to boot the patched BIOS, I heard continuous beeps but couldn't enter the BIOS menu. FWIW, I couldn't find any material on the web about an anti-tamper switch. I flashed the original BIOS back to the chip, at which point the laptop showed no signs of life other than an orange light on the underside indicating power (indicating a problem perhaps). I've done multiple reads of the BIOS chip and confirmed using an MD5 checksum that it matches what was originally on the chip. This doesn't appear to be a problem with corrupted BIOS I believe.

I would like to get the laptop back to a working state so I can execute the Flashing EC procedure mentioned in the sticky post.

What are the recommended steps to recover?

                                    Thank you, hoaca388.

I switched to Neoprogrammer. Now I can consistently read the BIOS image that I write. In other words, the md5 checksum of the image I write to the IC matches the md5 checksum of what I read back from the IC. This is progress as I couldn't do this previously. I wrote my original BIOS and the BIOS that hoaca338 provided. I removed the battery, external power, and CMOS battery for 30 seconds. I pushed the button to disconnect the battery (even though this is probably not needed). The behavior is the same: the laptop shows no sign of life. The LED near the power connect glows orange as shown in the pic below.

What else can I try to restore this laptop?
