“ME FW Update Failed, please try again”.

I’ve already tried updating the BIOS and several other procedures, but nothing works.
This error also causes the audio not to work.

If I flash a different BIOS, the laptop does not power on at all.
It only powers on with its original dump.

I’m attaching the original BIOS, backups, and the necessary files for analysis.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Out of curiosity, I tested both approaches you suggested, but unfortunately neither worked.

As mentioned before, the system does not power on with any BIOS other than its original dump (no LEDs, no response).
It only powers on with the BIOS I read from the board, which is the one attached in my initial post.

With that original BIOS, the system boots but always shows the message:
“ME FW Update Failed, please try again”, and the audio does not work.

That’s why I believe the issue is related to the Intel ME region or ME/EC compatibility, rather than a general BIOS version problem.

Any further insight would be appreciated.

It`s probably related to the Audio chip. There is a pin related to ME (HDA ?) . Find the schematic/boardview look for damage.

Yes! Came back to life again after flashing and an extra hard reset. Thanks alot!
Now the previous owner is looking for the Bios password since he forgot that there is one. So if he doesn't find it i have to flash again.

I need some help with BIOS flashing. I’m new to this and still learning.

I’m working on a ThinkPad T490 with an MX25L25673G (32MB) SPI flash chip. I’m using a CH341A Black programmer with a SOIC8 clip and flashing with NeoProgrammer.
I tried flashing the BIOS dump that you provided earlier. The flashing process completed successfully (erase, program, and verify all passed without errors).

However, the laptop still does not power on.

When I connect the charger, the power button LED blinks 3 times and the charging LED lights up in orange. The battery charges normally, but pressing the power button does nothing - no fan spin, no display, no reaction at all.

It’s possible that I’m doing something wrong during the flashing process.

Could you please advise if I might be missing something or doing something incorrectly?
