    Macbook A2141-820-01700 No Power

Hi Everyone, this is my first Post here, I hope your can Help me.
So I have Macbook Pro A2141, no Power on.
for the first The Board looking fine, NO Liquid to see.
Under Thermal Camera Q7030 ist Hot up to 40 °C.
something more, Q7065 Source 1,2,3 is stable 12,30V, Gate pin number 4 is not stable 12,60V after 4 sekonds 4,00V after 4 seconds again 12,60V and again same 4,00V.
Drain pin number 5 not stable, but this time 12,60V and then 00,22V and then again 12,60V after 4 seconds 00,22V.

      Re: Macbook A2141-820-01700 No Power

Remove fuses F7000 and F7001 off the logic board.

      Then power up again.

Measure the voltage to ground at F7000 pcb pad, pin #1.

What is the measurement? This is to confirm the producer side (isl9240) of the ppbus_g3h is working ok.

Remove all power, check the resistance to ground of F7000 pcb pad, pin #2.

What is the measurement? This is to confirm there is not a short on the consumer side of this power rail. If yes, the current sense circuit will detect a higher current draw and turn off the power rail, causing a power pulsing of the voltage (aka chirp mode).

        Re: Macbook A2141-820-01700 No Power

        F7000 and F7001 removed , the voltage on Pin 1 is 12,30V
All power removed, for the check ground resistance to ground, black wire from Multimeter connected to gnd and red is to PIN number 2 of F7000, but I get evrytime diferent results,
from 15,00 KΩ and its going up, 16KΩ,17KΩ,18KΩ,19KΩ30KΩ,35KΩ and, and, and.
my be I do something wrong?
        after I removed F7000 and F7001 , I see on my Ampermeter only 5V, 0,32A, 1mAh.

          Re: Macbook A2141-820-01700 No Power

Is the voltage of 12v30 on fuse pin #1, stable or pulsing?

Check the cases for this logic board here:

          https://repair.wiki/w/A2141_2019_16%22_MacBook_Pro

Have you seen the adapter voltage at 20v?

The consumer side resistance is fine.

            Re: Macbook A2141-820-01700 No Power

yes the voltage 12,30V on fuse pin 1 is stable.

I put the Fuse F7000 and F7001 back to the plase, and checked this case.

            No Power, PPBUS_G3H at 12.5 V, charger at 20 V cycling from 0–300 mA

The Macbook was detected, and when I Right click on the box and choose "advanced", and then "revive device" I get after 10 seconds error mesage ( look atachment)

                  Re: Macbook A2141-820-01700 No Power

Ok. Your fault may be the same as the above wiki link.

Remove all power -> no battery -> meter in resistance mode.

Check the resistance to ground of PP2V5_NAND.

                  From the above wiki,
                  Found C9586 for PP2V5_NAND short

This spot on the board is VERY susceptible to corrosion with no liquid damage. It is placed in the path of incoming cooling air, so dirt and dust build up in this spot causing moisture to be retained, resulting in corrosion. Recommend a conformal coat on this area once repair is done. After removing the short and verifying PP2V5 is present you may find the no power is almost the same, but now taking 20 V, 0–20 mA. If the rest of the board passes visual inspection, and no other shorts are suspected, the next step is to DFU revive (*CAUTION* DFU Revive must never be mixed up with DFU Restore, DFU revive keeps data on the drive, DFU Restore erases all data)
Review if you have the same fault. A quick test is to flux and remove this capacitor. Measure the resistance to ground again after this cap is removed.

but PP2V5_NAND_SSD0 is 0,00Ω and its shurted to the ground.

Do you have an adjustable power supply ?

If yes, you can consider to inject 0v8 onto either side of the inductor (coil) @ L9580 or L9581. Then check who heats up.

If it is the SSD0 chip then you will have to search out the same from a donor board. Wait on others to comment. With some luck, one of the caps could be shorted and will heat up. That cap will then need to be removed and/or replaced.

yes I have adjustable power supply.
L9580 and L9581 will not heats up, but both this coil look as its cracked ( Brocken )
and U9500 and U9580 looking not good.
The Balls under chip ist black.
I can order U9500 and U9580, but its will be take litle time,
I have here only 820-00928 doner board, and is Water damaged, I think I will replace L9580 and L9581 with LB150 and L2950 from my doner board 820-00928

Apply flux and reflow the bga ics linked to this power rail.

The inductors must be not cracked and working for the power rail to function.

Repair each and test again. If required, replace the power ICs. Proceed with care so the bga pads are not damaged.

I suspect that C9081 shorted after C9589 was resolved. That is why I am checking further before powering up.

I'd recommend replacing U9580 as well. TPS62180 dies very easily and having a shorted cap means something wrong has happened already. Make sure the area is very clean and the IC is soldered 100% correctly.
Anything going on on the SSD power rails can kill the SSD ICs very easily. Low resistance to ground on PP2V5_NAND_SSD is an indication that most likely an SSD IC has been damaged already.
Very common on this board especially after liquid damage.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                      Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
