    Asus X512D M/B: X512DK

    Does not turn on
I've been fiddling all day. When connected, the white indicator lights up, it does not respond to the button, I flashed the BIOS twice, nothing has changed. In the photo, my measurements on throttles and measurements of the charge controller, tell me where to dig

    BQ24780S I took the pinout from Lenovo s145-15iil GS44D/GS54D NM-C711

    Hi.

    1) Do you have a battery connected to this unit ? (based on pin #15 = active LOW = battery is connected). Remove it and test again.

    2) Remove all power. Confirm first 2 mosfets are ok.

Meter in resistance mode (lowest scale).

    Check the resistance across:

    source (1-2-3) & drain (5-6-7-8)
    source (1-2-3) & gate (4)
    gate(4) & drain (5-6-7-8)

for each mosfet. Post the readings.

Are you sure about pin5 measurements??? ACOK-6V?? ACN/ACP has to be same voltage. check again

        mon2 HI
I made measurements without a battery, on pin 15 0v with or without a battery.
I checked the incoming two transistors and they are without breakdown. voltage measurements in the photo

        source (1-2-3) & drain (5-6-7-8) 3 MOhm
        source (1-2-3) & gate (4) 30 MOHm
        gate(4) & drain (5-6-7-8) 0 OHm

soldered out and I open and close mosfets with a multimeter, there is no short

        mcplslg123 Hi
        I checked again pin 1 and 2 19.6v , pin 5 6v

Check this again. It should not be 0 ohms. If still a low resistance, the mosfet is defective and must be replaced.

Measure the mosfet while it is removed off the logic board to confirm.

Never any power when measuring resistance.

Do test both mosfets and confirm that you have a high resistance for both mosfets. Otherwise they are defective.

Pin5,ACOK should'nt be 6V. It should be 3..0-3.3V max. Check resistors connected to this pin.

I soldered two at the DC connector and checked these incoming transistors, and the two that are at the battery plug, they are intact according to my measurements, then I put donors in the transistor at the input, the quote has not changed. I will search further.

Sometimes ACOK is pulled up to REGN. Dunno on this board

                  Hello badcaps

@skynet85 did you solve this laptop ??
I have same problem Asus X512DK Rev2.1, power on led light is on, all voltages are good, 1.8V, 2.5V, 0.8V, 3.3V, 5V, 6.7V on charging coil (but no charging) and no voltage on cpu coils, I try all bios dump files on this forum nothing changed, nothing is heating up, any help ??

Have you found the problem with that Asus yet?

Review the mosfets linked to the battery. The battery sense pin is low which alerts the charger ic that a battery is connected.

Yet, the high side and low side mosfet drive pins are not being driven. The gates of the n-channel mosfets should be 6 volts higher than the voltage being passed between source and drain pins.

Meter in resistance mode. Remove all power. No battery.

                          Check the resistance across:

                          source (1-2-3) & drain (5-6-7-8)
                          source (1-2-3) & gate (4)
                          gate(4) & drain (5-6-7-8)

for the battery mosfets. There will usually be 3 of them. High side / low side that create the charge voltage rail and a battery mosfet to permit the battery to power the logic board when the power adapter is absent. Post the readings.

I had this problem but i already solved it, maybe luck of some sort, anyways. I got hold of this Asus X512D M/B: X512DK from a friend, Symptoms NO POWER when the power button is pressed, no battery charging light when power adapter is inserted, Power adapter is Good, unit is Dead..

Open it up, thorough visual inspection, lots of dust and dead ants make its way in the bottom side of the mobo, no sign of corrosion, all parts are intact, power is getting into the system, but only the 19volts rail is all present. no always on voltage like 5v, 3.3v check all cap, mosfet, all 0resistor all good. no voltage in the eeprom ic so its not a eeprom problem. No burnt components no nothing, spend 3 hours poking, checking voltage rails. check all coils with no avail. Losing hope!

I read an article about dead ants in mobo it is said that it produces lactic acid and this acid is bad specially in electronic circuit bridging resistance in circuit not shorting bridges but it makes 50k resistance value to close to 1k disrupting the current flow in the MOBO. I give it a try, since the unit is fresh i broke all the warranty seal 😀😀😀

So i thorough clean it up with 70% isopropyl alcohol, get rid of the plastic covering the bottom of the motherboard soaked it while brushing it and clean it make sure to keep an eye of parts that came loose. I dried the mobo in the back of my aircon unit for 1 hour.

Moment of truth plug the mobo in my power adapter with display current drain of 2.54A at 19v, I immediately disconnect the power, place all the heatsink, insert the battery, the lvds connector, memory, the power display module and also the cpu fan..Insert the power adapter again (i haven't press the power button yet) cpu fan spins, amber light in battery and white lite in power on, Display the Asus Bios, current drain of 4.2A at 19V. press and hold the power button for 5seconds the unit shutdown with current drain 2.4A amber light indicating battery charging. insert the ssd sata m.2 stick, boot is again works perfectly windows login display at 3 seconds, test it for 2 hours watching movie and 2 hours playing games, test it again in the morning for 5 hours straight the unit is restored. Hope this helps
