    X555LD HDD Board change

    Hi everybody,

i am quite new at reparing electronics, so please be patient with me

I have an Asus F555LF notebook. The first problem was, that i didt find my hard disk on bios. I found out that the X555LD Rev 3.6 HDD Board was broken. So and I changed my X555LD HDD Board. Now I have the problem that I cant find the hard disk too. I tried to reset bios by removing the bios battery. It became clear, that the batterie of the notebook is the CMOS Batterie as well. My first question is. Is this right or can I just not find the CMOS Batterie?
Its also quite clear, that the batterie is broken (e.g. bios time and date are changing when i plug out notebook). Is it possible, that my problems now are coming out of this? Can you give me any further advice?
How can I find out if this is the problem or if I just need any drivers?
I have a bootable usb with linux. Maybe this could be helpful.
I am a student and I dont have much money, so if i am buying something I would be happy, if I could be more or less sure that it will work

Thank you very much everybody! If I havent seen any threads with a similar problem, I woul be thankful for the advice to!

    Further informations:
    Motherboard: X555LD Rev 3.6 Motherboard
    Hard Disk: MQ01ABF050

Try to use legacy mode in the bios. Otherwise flash bios.

Is there a way to flash bios without entering the easy flash mode? I cant enter the easy flash mode with a broken battery. Can I flash bios on linux?

The bios configuration should not be affected by the battery. The battery could be even removed but as long as you have stable external power adapter, the logic board should power up and permit you to select a hot-key to enter the BIOS.

Is your power adapter stable ?

Do you see the first power on screen with this laptop ? If yes, then if your keyboard is working, you should be able to hit a key to enter the BIOS configuration.

Watch this youtube video and see if it works for you:

          @Azhar691:
          - yes, is ok that bios battery no longer exist, in new low cost laptop
          - you don't need drivers; drivers are required IF the hardware is seen, in your case is not
          - as a colegue said, try to use legacy and turn off secure boot; also, look on last page, at Boot override, if hdd is seen there
          - try to test your hdd in another place, maybe you have a friend with computer, is easy this way
          - in the end, if your hdd is ok and is not seen by your laptop, try to use a ssd; i meet 2-3 times that modern low cost asus laptop is delivering a tiny power that is needed for powering up an hdd, but an ssd usses some reduced power, and i resolve like that in those 2-3 cases i meet

Mezzanine connector on logic board could be bad.

I already Entered the bios. I just cant enter easy flash Mode because the battery is Broken. Therefore I cant charge it till 20%. So my question is if I can flash bios without entering the easy flash mode. For example with Linux.

Thank you, this was already helpful. I already tested another hdd on the Computer. This is Not detected too.
The HDD Board is connected to a „usb Board“ (Not sure of this is the Name) the usb Port on this „usb Board“ is Not Working as well. So as the too Parts (the HDD an the Usb) are connected to the HDD Board and they are Both Not working and I already Tried anothe HDD I am quite Sure, That the HDD Board is the Problem. This one is new,so I am quite sure That it should be working.

I tried to enter legacy, But I could Not find it on my bios. Is it possible, That it is too Old and it doesnt support legacy Mode?

So for me it seems like I have to flash Bios, to check of the problem is there.

That was my Problem With the Old HDD Board. After I changed it, it didnt work. So I checked the Voltage at that Point with a Multimeter (I learned later that this could be a bad Idea)
But there is voltage at the connector.

The new laptops is not supporting Legacy mode, is not your case.
When you powering on the laptop, please make silence and be carrefully to hear that if hdd try to spin his disk/s or making some noise; as i said, i suspect that, even if you have voltage, you do not have sufficient current to power hdd; that's way i ask, if iou can, to check with a ssd.

                        Re: X555LD HDD Board change

I can hear the HDD for about half a second and than it stops. So maybe you are right about your suggestion. Is there a way to higher the voltage?

I get an error if I want to Upload the image. Its sayd that file is invalid. If you know why, feel welcome to let me know.

So this is what it says at the Save and Exit site of my bios:

                          Save Changes and Exit
                          Discard Changes and Exit

                          Save Options:
                          Save Changes
                          Discard Changes

                          Boot Override:

launch EFI Shell from filesystem device

Ok, i have these leds here on the small board and they are not working. So I guess it could be because I havent enough voltage. If someone know how to higher voltage at that point, I wold be thankfull. The LEDS are on the "USB Bord" that I mentioned before. This board is connected through the HDD Board. As you can see on the picture of the whole Comuter.
