    Re: A2289 Board 820-01987-A Dead?

    Hey dbteckos. Sorry for the late answer since then I have bought another 820-01987 board and here with no signs of corrosion or other damage but it takes 200mA and 20V dont know why yet.. the old board are stock on DFU mode now and it only takes 80-96mA 20V

    I measured the testpoint (beside J8401) for both board diode mode = Old board : 1.788 new board : 1.700

    Here are some other measurements for old and new board

    Ny board

    L7270 = 14.30 ohm
    L7210 = 4.30 ohm
    L7220 = 4.30 ohm
    L7410 = 3.93 ohm
    L7420 = 3.93 ohm
    L7702 = 43.3 ohm
    L7030 = 2.68 Mohm
    F7000 = 50 kohm both sides
    L8102 = 27.33 ohm
    L8100 = 0.46 kohm
    L7690 = 1.6 Mohm
    L7670 = 5.9 kohm
    L8410 = 1.10 Mohm

    Old board

    L7270 = 13.7 ohm
    L7210 = 2.50 ohm
    L7220 = 2.50 ohm
    L7410 = 3.66 ohm
    L7420 = 3.51 ohm
    L7702 = 24.3 ohm
    L7030 = 2.26 Mohm
    F7000 = 1.6 Mohm both sides
    L8102 = 56.2 ohm
    L8100 = 0.33 kohm
    L7690 = 0.44 Mohm
    L7670 = 0.40 Mohm
    L8410 = 1.10 Mohm

      Sorry just noticed this!

      Temp for Ultrasonic cleaner for Logic board should be
      66C
      and timer needs to be 4 mins per cleaning cycle. You need to clean the board two times. One side for 4 mins, then flip it and clean for another 4 mins. Total of 8 mins of cleaning time.

      After that you need to throw the board into a tub of 99% Isoproply Alchohol.

      Make sure your Ultrasonic cleaner is using Distilled water and on top of that make sure you are using EC Cleaner from Branson. I would hope you are using a Crest Ultrasonic cleaner as well. Hope this helps!

        Had pretty similar (if not the same) issue as Kudeta. After doing throughout visual inspection for the 3rd time I discovered shorted capacitor C8103 and shot 0Ohm resistor R8154 next to it. After replacing both - logicboard is back to life. Hope it will help someone.

          I have a very similar issue myself.
          Have a A2289 board that "boots" without battery at 20v 0.5A with trackpad, warm CPU and fan spin.

          No display nor Touch Bar. Had liquid damage around U7420 and Q7065 mostly.

          I wish there was a definitive check list of rails to test in order to determine what can irrefutably diagnose a major component failure.

          I find I am good at locating offending components but I struggle to know if I'm always looking in the right places in terms of what is essential to be live and what isn't.

          I will update my findings here this week

            A2991 Logic Board issue, 20volts 0 amps help!
            by Stephen
            Customer plugged in samsung monitor into the board and used it as a power supply, killed UG800 and UG400. I replaced those two with an exact donor board we had In stock and working, board pulls 5volts and then gets like 2.89 amps on the left side. The singular port is the port that failed. Used a perfectly working chips from donor (board was locked) Now I only get 5volts 0 amps on that power and then 20volts 0 amps on the two left side ports, I checked for DFU and nope nothing, computer not turning on. No shorts present anymore. I am confused as I used the exact components from an identical...

            MacBook Pro A2289 No Power
            by jasonr2000
            hi guys I have a 2020 MacBook Pro A2289 it has the i5 CPU and is now acting as if its dead,

            when I plug in the charger cable with a volt meter thing connected as well its drawing 20.3v and 1.11A

            if I press the power button nothing happens.

            but if I hold the power button for 7 seconds or more the voltmeter drops all the amps down to 0.00A but voltage stays the same.

            any ideas where I can check ??

            from what I can gather it must be charging the battery at 1.11A as nothing happens when the power button is pressed. I can successfully...

            MacBook Pro A1990 stuck at 5v .592 amps
            by Fisher8865
            Hi guys

            I have a MacBook Pro A1990 that takes 4.9 Volts and .592 to .615 amps on one port. The other port on the left side power cycles with about the same amount of volts an amps but quickly power cycles. The same thing happens on the other side but opposite. So on the left side the bottom port stays on and on the right side it's the top one. I think it is a CD3215 chip but I am not sure how to test it or where to get one. I have checked for voltage at ppbus_g3h and it has 12.6 V which is also on fuses f7000 and f7001 I checked pp1v2_s3 and it has 1.2 V then...

            Macbook Pro A2289 MXK62LL/A (661-14770) - No Startup
            by Flasman90
            Hi everyone - first time poster on here looking to embark on my first repair! Thank you in advance for any help!

            My Macbook only turns on when the charger is plugged in and only the trackpad and fans show signs of life. The display, caps lock light and touchbar do not turn on. There was previous liquid damage to the touchbar but after cleaning and drying the laptop was operational for a year without any issues. There doesn't seem to be any sign of liquid damage to the board, at present.

            What I have done so far:

            - All of the routine diagnostic methods including...
