I´ve been in the last days doing extensive research about programming ite chips, but cannot find too much info on the subject. No datasheet available of it85xx or it89xx series available, only schematics with pinout diagram, so is not so easy. Anyway, maybe somebody struggles like me trying to flash this chips. With rt809h programmer last update December 2019 got same results. For some reason IT8586e marked lenovo from 2 different lenovo MBs, nm-a311 and NM-a181, if i try to read the chip online (with flex cable attached to keyboard connector) programmer enters a loop error waiting chip to enter ISP status and some lines later ID verification error, i mapped all pins, used listed pinouts included in the programmer software and configured new ones, checked connections from programmer directly to the IT chip pin by pin many times, made all recommended methods unplugging mb plugging after read etc, same result, same error. flied pin 100 to ground, in one of them had a fixed resistor 10k to gnd but did it anyway like is recommended in some post of rt809h forum if u get this type of error, same result. The interesting thing is one of this MBs (NM-a311) was working perfectly booting SO and all. Maybe something wrong with algorithm for accessing chip??Only guessing, i saw some documentation of Vertyanov programmer and it said pins KSI5 and KSI4 are used for activating ISP interface, maybe with rt809h depending on MB or chip something is not well optimized??again only guessing . Now, i soldered directly on the ITE interface adaptor V1.5 a previously programmed Lenovo CHIP IT8586e from a faulty MB but i knew it was OK, had a video card issue. Now the interesting crazy thing begins, READ it perfectly rechecked 3 4 times all files saved identical, so communication offline with chip was perfect. Upload the new ec dump for nm-a181 i downloaded earlier, programmed the chip, perfect, verified OK, so far all was perfect. And then press read, and got read timeout error, forever, no more recognizing the chip, after writing code chip was no longer available for programmer. Is it possible this Lenovo chips have any kind of pretected mode or a flag in the firmware that after being flashed enter a blocked MODE, this is maybe crazy or stupid to think, but i´m out of ideas. Finally after several attempts, extracted chip out of interface, soldered in MB NM-A181 motherboard i wanted to fix, and voila, MBs works perfect, i enter bios, changed configs, boot windows, all is working smoothly. Now i´m happy i could fix it, but i´m more confused than before and have LOTS of more doubts. Only sharing my expirience, maybe someone can contribute with a new approach, Thanks in advance

Re: some additional about it8586e marked lenovo chip programming errors
Plz advice a newb. Don't mind my newb question..
But here I have a smoked IT8502E and I got a donor chip from a different board, different model. Can it be swapped or do I have to program that thing?? -
Re: some additional about it8586e marked lenovo chip programming errors
it8502 can be swaped, it is not programmable,it is an old model of ITE i think, i'm not
in my workshop in the moment, i'll check later but i'm 80% sure, if i find different i let u know, what motherboard are u repairing???Comment

Need help about what ksi pin # should be connected to cs, din, dout and clk of low budget spi programmer via jtag on motherboard connector. Cant find complete datasheet about pinout. Thanks in advanceComment

Re: some additional about it8586e marked lenovo chip programming errors
After lot.of errors and trials I arrived to the conclusion rt809h implementation is faulty for communication protocol with ITE chips, sometimes it works for some seconds, sometimes it doesn't and at the end, I assume bad communication protocols implementation. I ordered vertyanov programmer and it's the best for all kind of KBC chips of all brands, never had more issuesComment

I have the same problem with RT809H and IT8586E chip.
Online programming in the motherboard using the flex cable does not work.
Offline reading of the chip in the auxiliary PCB works, but as soon as I write to the chip, it stops being readable.
The RT809H really can't work properly with these chips.
But I have not yet tried to put the chip written in this way back on the motherboard, if it will work.Comment

Rt809h is a really good programmer for spi, and other kind of chips, but definitely not for KBC chips, although with kb90xx series it works, with ite doesn't work, I even tried external programming had also issues. I've been years working with vertyanov programmer and never had any complaints.Comment

Q: I have a bios request,i can`t post my backup as i can`t read from the chip.
A: If you can`t read from it how do you expect to write to it ?.
Q: Why is my bios chip unreadable ?.
A: The programmer is faulty or has a worn or broken zif socket.
The USB cable is frayed, connector pins worn or some other physical damage.
Not enough amperage or voltage to power the programmer properly.

by acedogblastThis is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.
There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as... -
by rumpumpel1I would like to receive confirmation that the following considerations are correct:
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T490s (NM-C891) with 16GB RAM (8 chips) soldered on the mainboard.
MemTest86 reports the following errors:
Lowest Error Address: 0x1F97B0930 (8087MB)
Highest Error Address: 0x1FB7B6DB0 (8119MB)
Dividing the 16GB into address ranges per chip I get the following table:
#1 0x000000000 - 0x07FFFFFFF
#2 0x080000000 - 0x0FFFFFFFF
#3 0x100000000 - 0x17FFFFFFF
#4 0x180000000 - 0x1FFFFFFFF
#5 0x200000000 - 0x27FFFFFFF

Before I go further down the rabbit hole, I'd like to know if I have created a dead-end in my repair process. I am attempting to reflash my Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen 2's BIOS chip after a power interruption corrupted the BIOS data during an update.
I do not have backups of the data I pulled off the chip using a CH341A 24 25 Series EEPROM https://www.amazon.com/Organizer-Soc...Q%3D%3D&sr=8-5

Long story short:
- dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
- gave the computer to his son a couple years later
- son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
- too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)
He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8... - Loading...
