Re: MacBook 820-00923 identify component
On the 820-00239 boardview and schematic, that has a similar layout ,the part is L4004. 120Ohm 1.5A ferrite bead .Last edited by SMDFlea; 08-30-2018, 03:13 AM.Leave a comment:

Nope, the component is not connected to that QFN. One connection goes to the display connector and the other one disappears in an inner layer.Leave a comment:

Re: MacBook 820-00923 identify component
Look at the QFN IC next to the burnt area, take note of the part number. Google the part number and 820- ,find a schematic with the same IC and layout.Leave a comment:

MacBook 820-00923 identify component
Hi together
Maybe someone can help me: I have a 820-00923 mainboard (as far as I know, no schematics or board view exist...) that has a small water damage right next to the display connector.
Now I would need help to identify the component that was burned away (I attached two images). Can someone help me with it?
Thanks and greetingsTags: None

by devsignerHi
While messing around with my MacBook Pro, I stupidly pinged off a very small surface mounted component that I’m now trying to identify.
resistance tests show a rising resistance value, indicating a capacitor.
The laptop boots up and runs, however I'm choosing not to use it until I get it fixed.
i can’t see any markings on the capacitor at 10x magnification using a professional jewler's loop.
It seems like there's some damage to the capacitor - one side doesn't have "shiny bits" - can you tell I don't do this for a living!...5 Photos -

by Flasman90I have a 2020 Macbook Pro A2289 and after many attempts managed to get it into DFU mode, using my older 2017 A1706 Macbook Pro (Running Ventura 13.7.8). However, when attempting 'Restore', it fails at step 4 of 4, showing the following error:
- "The operation couldn’t be completed. (AMRestoreErrorDomain error -1 - Failed to handle message type StatusMsg (Generic error)) [AMRestoreErrorDomain – 0xA (10)]
- "The system cannot be restored on this device. Failed to create new state machine for restore [com.apple.MobileDevice.MobileRestore - 0xFB1 (4017)]

by dbuergiHi all,
i have a MacBook Pro 2019 A2159 which shows this screen when you boot it. I tried a SMC and PRAM reset without any changes. Everything in this book looks very clean even the board. The only "strange" thing i saw when it was open ist the fan which didn't spin at any time.
Any ideas where to search for faults?...2 Photos -
