Asus X450LC no power (no PM_SLP_S4#)

    Hi,
I don't have the laptop anymore, but I tried to diagnose an Asus X450LC this morning.
At first, the power LED would light up after pressing power button, but nothing happened.
I traced this back to a missing PM_SUSC# signal (PM_SLP_S4# coming from the PCH).
PM_RSMRST# was present, there was 3.3V on the power button.
I tried to flash the BIOS, same thing but now the power LED wouldn't even light up after pressing power button. Restored to the original BIOS, still no power LED.
I didn't have the time to check any more than this, I especially didn't check the RTC circuit but since RSMRST was present, I hoped (probably wrongly) it was ok. The CR2032 was at 3.1V though, so it's ok.

If anyones has an idea… It does not really matter anyway, the owner will probably replace the motherboard, but this still had me confused.

Original BIOS, repair guide and boardview attached.

it is possible that the SIO got damaged during your measurements, as it happened to me before.

I didn't measure on the SIO pin's directly, and the change in behaviour happened just after the BIOS flash. However this time I used a SOIC clip for in-system BIOS programming. That's the first time I try this on a laptop, and I had some difficulties to get the BIOS to be read at first. Maybe I did something wrong there. (though I checked multiple times that I didn't reverse the pinout)

I have read a similar problem during in-system BIOS programming yesterday in a thread that you have read too:
        www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=66760

It seems in-system BIOS programming will damage the mainboard sometimes, even if the adapter is connected properly to the Bios chip. this is probably because of the fact that SIO and other components which are connected to the Bios chip, are not made in a way to accept in-system BIOS programming. this is just my guess and I am not sure.

I think modern SPI Ic's are designed for 1.8 volts, when you connect the programmer it can supply 3.3 volts to this line. This can damage the elements in this chain. I never use in-circuit programming and do not recommend it to you.

            Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
            by PantherDave
            Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

ASUS TUF X570-PLUS doesn't power on: no VRM_EN signal.
            by ShadowAi
Hello, I have an issue with the motherboard. Specifically, it doesn't power on, more precisely, the POST initialization doesn't occur.

Let me start from the beginning, the motherboard suddenly stopped working one day. There are no beep signals from the speaker, and the debug LEDs are not lighting up. After inspecting it under a microscope and using thermal imaging, I didn't find anything that could be damaged.

After that, I began voltage measurements, in which I noticed the absence of VDDQ, VDDP, VTT, and VPP lines. Later, I checked if there is an EN state on these lines,...

Asus Z97-a power cycle, no boot no cpu voltage
            by meraklinetx
Hello, I have an asus Z97-A motherboard and it doesn't start which was working properly before, the problem isn't related by ram, ram slots or psu (I changed all and nothing work), the exact problem is when you switch it on , it starts and after 1 seconds (no boot or display picture) it's off and then on cycle continuously until you power it off from psu also it's responding to the power switch for turning it off if you keep pressing it 3 or 4 seconds (power button pin has 3.3v) , also when you start it with eatx 12v socket connected this is happening (power cycle also all voltages are resetting...
