    Help wanted with 2009 macbook pro no power

    Hi Guys. Hopefully i got this right and my post is in the correct place. I suck at forums. It took me an age to find where to post this question

    I was just about to sell my old macbook pro when it died on me. I can't find the boardview for this machine but i found a similar one. Board is 820-2565-A

    Battery seems to be charging ok and indicator lights seem to be working. No fans nothing, everything else seems lifeless.

    I found a blown white fuse near to the display connector. On the other similar boardview i have this appears as a diode D9701 is the closest thing i could find to the white fuse i have. Seems to be linked to the backlight but i have no boot up let alone backlight issues.

    Causes might have been, old battery pulling constant current or perhaps some metalic crap i found magnetically stuck to the magsafe port.

    I didn't check all voltages as i am not really sure where to test but i saw what might be V in 12. something volts near to U7200 but not much else going on around here.
    I also found 3. or 4. something volts (can't remember now) on a 3 legged component by the top edge near the display connector and near to my white fuse.
    I don't want to keep comparing to components in the board view i have as it is not exactly the same.

    The blown fuse is baffling me as i don't know what it does or where it go's. I am assuming it has something to do with the backlight connector but why would it blow and also the board not be booting up?

    One side of the fuse measures short to ground, this seems a bit strange to me but perhaps it's supposed to be like that?
    I didn't want to bridge it as
    A. I don't know it's value (is it the 6A fuse?)
    B. I don't want to blow anything else, if something after the fuse is shorting to ground then the fuse will simply blow again.
    Mission is to find out more about this fuse and find out if some other component has shorted.
    Has anyone seen a similar problem with the 2009 or perhaps the 2010 Macbooks?

    EDIT: I have just attached an image i found online. Please ignore the missing component outlined and look for the white fuse on the top right.

    Thanks.
    James

      c'est sur que tu sauras maintenant si t'as réellement affaire à un fusible un condensateur non polarisé ou ......

        Hi Guys, i'm working on an 820-2565-A board.

        I have done a number of measurments and it looks like the power is gone rather quick.

        I have checked the variouse powers related to the PBus Supply & Battery Charger (page 64 of the diagrams.) (see attached my results.

        PPDCIN_G3H = 17.1 V
        PPDCIN_G3H_INRUSH_FET =17.1 V
        PPDCIN_G3H_INRUSH = 16.8 V
        PPDCIN_G3H_CHGR = 16.7 V
        PP5V1_CHGR_VDDP = 5.1 V

        PP3V42_G3H = 0 V
        PPVBAT_G3H_CHGR_REG = 0V
        PPVBAT_G3H_CONN = 0V

        Fan is connected to the board, no battery only the Mac Safe, no green light.

        Does one of you a sugestion what to do?

        thanks

          Bestec ATX0300F5WA - fast,or slow blow, fuse?
          by socketa
          I bought a dead motherboard, and connected it to this PSU,
          Was checking the standby voltages on the motherboard, and, whilst doing so, the PSU made a loud bang with a flash of light.
          So now i truly got a bang for my bucks, and something else to try and fix.
          The fuse was blowen, and the top was blowen off of a TNY276PN chip
          The glass fuse didn't have any marking to say if it was fast or slow blow
          So i checked the marking on the PCB thinking that that would tell me,
          but it 's got a T/F8A printed on the board
          So should i get a fast blow fuse, or should...

          hi all, got this macbook with dead trackpad. after some investigation i found that fuse is bwlown. it's marked with a K on it. anyone kjnow it's value ? it is a 0402 package.

          another problem is: i tried another trackpad that was working fine, but the feedback sensor was not. all volts are present, but the click mechanism isnt .

          A funny fuse story – Lumix LX100 II
          by corrize
          Hello, I disassembled this dead camera, and found this WTF… Two fuses soldered one above the other !
          I was pretty sure nobody touched it before, but that can't be from factory. There is flux, and capacitor is probably missing.
          The other weird thing : the fuses are « G » fuse : (0.75A – 8V), seems very low. The original fuse should be « O » : (32V 2,5A).
          There is « O » mark beside. All fuses have the same mark letter on main board. So, I can deduce it's a « O » fuse.
          And this correspond to the issus I saw : when I plug the battery, I measure the voltage dropping...

          General question about MacBook power rails for repair.
          by SarcasticOP
          I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
          • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
            • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
          • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
            • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.
          • PPVRTC_G3H (3.3V)
            • This
