    Acer Aspire 5740-6025

Eternal power supply stopped charging battery. Laptop continued to work till battery drained. External power supply is fine 19 volt. Removed Mother Board and found that the +19 volt travels from the input jack immediately to a printed circuit board device marked EC-51 but the power stops there. My question is what is this device. Is it a fuse, diode, or other electronic device and can I replace it or jump it out? If I connect the battery to the Mother Board it powers up fine.

its not diode or fuse. its ceramic capacitor

the schematic is suitable for your board? if so, then try check D10, U28,U29 if them shorted. check it with DMM in diode mode without power adapter and battery
