    Looking for information on flashing BIOS on Dell Windows laptops, so user can enter service tag at boot

    Hello all,

    I am looking into flashing the BIOS on Dell Windows laptops.

    The customers want these to boot to the dialog box that prompts the user to enter the Service Tag. On a new device, this would happen on the first boot.

    On older models, we could use a hex editor to blank out the old service tag and this would work. But modern Dell laptops do not allow this.

    We have BIOS from brand new boards, that we thought we could overwrite old BIOS with this fresh copy but that doesn't seem to work.

    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

      The Dell Service-Tag or rather yall mean the company's Asset Number.

      I've never seen Dell ship a computer to an end-user while still in Manufacturing Mode (not on purpose anyway). 😀

      And I've first-booted and did First-Time-Setup on plenty of Dells. They don't ask for Service-Tag (that's done at factory before shipping it out).

          Mainboard: 820-02890

          I'm working on a 16" M2 Pro (A2780) board with a complex boot/DFU issue. I would appreciate any guidance on the next steps.

          Symptoms & Behavior:
          • The board does not boot. Without the trackpad connected, it pulls up to ~500mA briefly, then drops and gets stuck around 140mA. Fans spin at max speed (expected due to missing thermal sensors).

          Hey, im stuck with troubleshooting my Dell 5540 i7 vPro with 203032-1 motherboard. Every time i try to leave manufacturing mode it stops booting. I've tried clean ME Region clean BIOS but nothing really helps. Any help would be much appriciated

          Both chip dumps in attachments aswell as logs from MEInfo. I can't get the originnal bios to work, im only able to boot with clean BIOS

          My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

          Hi masters, need your help in solving this mystery.

          i have a dell optiplex 7090 micro that i bought from local kijiji.

          when i turn it on, error comes out saying no hard disk.
          i go to bios to check the boot option, only httpboot shows. If i try to add boot option, it only shows file search but nothing happens when i click.

          i took out the ssd and put it into old laptop and format and installed the windows 10 and put it back into the desktop. It boots up and same error again no hard disk.
          it seems as if the computer doesnt recognize the ssd...
