    MacBook A2485 M1 Max - no sound/video on speakers

    Hi,
    I’m troubleshooting a MacBook Pro 16" A2485 (820-02382, M1 Max) on macOS (Tahoe). Headphones work fine (3.5mm jack + Bluetooth), but internal speakers do not work at all.

    When I try to play any system sound (e.g. afplay /System/Library/Sounds/Glass.aiff), it fails with:
    AudioQueueStart failed ('what')

    Logs from coreaudiod show the Built-In Speaker device trying to start and then failing immediately, e.g.:
    BuiltInSpeakerDevice: starting → IOA2UCDevice::StartIO ... Error: 0xE00002E9 → Underlying device failed to start with error: what

    If I remove the headphone plug, playback often stops/doesn’t continue and the speakers never take over.

    Has anyone seen this exact behavior on A2485 / Apple Silicon Macs and found the cause (software/firmware settings, known hardware fault, or specific diagnostic steps)?

      i have a Macbook Air A1932 with no sound from speakers, but it does have sound from jack plug with corded earbuds plugged in
      i have checked left and right amps in diode mode all all checks out ok, i think it is unusual for both speakers to stop working together but i have no history regardin this mac
      i have both 820-01521 and 820-01124 boardview and schematics

      Has anyone encountered this before?

      I have this MacBook on my bench with the following issue:

      The MacBook works perfectly fine on battery power, but as soon as I connect the charger and put the machine under load (for example, running Cinebench), the MacBook reboots.

      As I understand it, when the CPU is under heavy load, the MacBook starts relying more on the power coming from the charger, and the voltage on one of the power rails may be dropping, causing the reboot.

      What circuit or component is responsible for boosting the voltage from the charger? Where should I start looking for the problem?...

      Hi all,

      I recently got my hands on an M1 MacBook Pro (2021, A2485) that I suspect suffered some liquid damage. I have a hot air station and the basic tools to work on the board, but I’m new to SMD repair and would love some guidance before diving in.

      Here’s what I’ve observed so far:
      • When I power it on, I hear the MacBook chime and, with a flashlight, I can see the Apple logo on the screen. However, it never completes the boot and eventually powers off. My plan is to try to get the display fully working first, then tackle the boot issue.

      Audio video receiver KENWood KR-V990D,no sound

      When I select the FM receiver, I find a radio station, the sound is heard on REC OUT(L,R), REC TAPE1(L,R),REC TAPE2(L,R) on high-ohm headphones, the sound regulation does not work.
      The output reacts when I connect the record player to PRE OUT FRONT L, the sound is heard in the speaker but the sound regulation does not work. Then it does not matter what I chose on the front selector.
      I replaced the capacitor C303/0.047F, nothing changes.
      I'm asking for help, what should I do next?
