    MacBook A1707 - No power 20v

    Hi,

    we have a problem with an A1707 that came in for no power, showing 20V and 0A. The laptop has visible signs of humidity/liquid damage, as shown in the photo near U1100.

    Here are the measurements:
    • PPBUS_G3H: 12.6V
    • PP3V3_G3H: 3.3V
    • PP5V_S5 & PP3V3_S5: Present
    • SMC_RESET_L: 3.3V
    • PP3V3_UPC: 3.3V
    • RTC_RESET_L: 0.1V (not shorted)
    • PP3V0_G3H: 0.1V (not shorted)

      1) The green pond scum has been cleaned up with IPA?

      2)
      • RTC_RESET_L: 0.1V (not shorted)
      • PP3V0_G3H: 0.1V (not shorted)
      These 2 lines are linked. The RTC_RESET_L is not high because the PP3V0_G3H rail is missing.

      Would you have a known good, charged battery to test on this board?

          That area was cleaned, and I had to rebuild the whole top line as it was too corroded. I checked all connections and everything is good.

          Regarding the battery, I have tested the board without the battery as I normally do, and it has always worked this way. The customer mentioned that the laptop had been left with no charge for about a month.

              Tried with new tested battery, same results. Any ideas?

                  Share the voltage to ground measurements of:

                  SMBUS_SMC_5_G3_SCL
                  SMBUS_SMC_5_G3_SDA

                  on the battery connector.

                                      I already searched the forum, but so far I haven’t found a matching boardview for this board. In several posts I came across, it was also mentioned that the uploaded files were often incorrect.

                                      Hi guys I have a Macbook a1707 with motherboard 820-00281, without liquid damage that behaves strangely, with the battery connected the Macbook does not turn on and the USBC meter stops at 5v in loop, when I disconnect the battery the Macbook turns on and works fine, I have already tried to replace the battery twice without success, as soon as I connect the black cable of the battery the Macbook does not turn on, it stops at 5v and in loop.

                                      require some help on this 820-00281-A macbook motherboard came in dead and the pch bga U1100 (SR2NH), u5000 , Q7056 , U7000 and bios U6100 ,looks like these have been tampered with ..also the battery is swollen..

                                      adapter usb c 20.5v 4.7a 96w , i persume it should power on mb without battery..

                                      update:

                                      when adapter plugged in , power switch which 3.3v on it , when power button pressed both fans come on after 6 secs for about 20secs approx then goes off , nothing on the display stays as blank.. the voltage at the usbc out start from...

                                      Hello there

                                      I have problem with Macbook Pro 15" 2017, model 2017, MB code 820-00928.

                                      I bought it as broken with some artefacts on the screen, first I thought that this is problem with ribbon cable but after inspectiing ribbon cable I know it is fine. I tried to reinstall macOs and then I figured out that this must be something with GPU as installation freezes at the end (when drivers are loaded). I installed Windows and was able to install every each of drivers except GPU driver, as soon as I tried to install GPU driver - black screen and restart.

                                      I have a MacBook Pro A1707 logic board that does not power on. Below are the measurements taken.

                                      Measured with a USB-C power meter on the ports:
                                      • 20V present
                                      • Current draw: 0A most of the time
                                      • Occasionally spikes to ~0.500A, then drops back to 0A
