Macbook A3113 - Battery not detected

    Hi,

I have a problem with an A3113 MacBook Air. After liquid damage, the MacBook had no backlight and did not detect the battery. I fixed the backlight circuit by replacing a missing resistor; however, I can’t figure out the battery-charging circuit issue.

    Current measurements:
    • PPBUS_AON: 12.26 V
    • SYS_DETECT_L: 0 V
    • SMBUS_BATT_1V8_SDA: 1.8 V
    • SMBUS_BATT_1V8_SCL: 0.6 V
    • PPVBAT_AON_CONN: 12.26 V measured at the connector

I checked the traces, and they appear to be fine. I also replaced D5190 just in case, but there was no change. The battery connector had significant liquid damage.

I also tried with a fully working battery from another device, same issue.

In the system, laptop shows: Battery replacement required 1%, not charging. Laptop works on battery charge and also on just charger.

Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode. Measure the resistance to ground of the same SMBUS_BATT_1V8_SCL line. If the resistance is not too low then inspect the series resistor @ RD208 = ~0R ohms if ok. Then the pull-up resistor @ RD202 must be present and within spec of the schematic values.

Remove D5150 and test again. The SCL line appears to be shunted to ground from either D5150 being defective from a previous transient or this line is not being pulled up as required by the SMBUS / I2C interface designs.

      SMBUS_BATT_1V8_SCL is on 1.2k OHM, tried without D5150 - same reading.RD208 Is 0OHM, And RD202 Should be 3.3k and my measurement show 1.9k, I2C_SMC_PWR_1V8_SCL_R is also 0.6V

Flux and carefully remove UD200 (level shifter). Then power up to check if the SCL line is pulled high or not. This level shifter may be defective.

Removed UD200 and it is still the same

Remove RD206 and test if the SMBUS_BATT_1V8_SCL floats to 1v8. If yes, remove all power. Meter in resistance mode. Measure the resistance to ground of SMBUS_CHGR_1V8_SCL (using the smd pad of the removed resistor @ RD206). The regulator @ U5200 may be pulling this SCL clock line down.

Do confirm that the required pull-up resistor @ RD202 is being pulled high to the 1v8 rail.

While RD206 removed SMBUS_CHGR_1V8_SCL on battery connector 1.8v, On the RD206 SMD Pad 0V

Can RAA489901 be found in any other macbook boards or it is new edition IC?

Appears that you can replace this part which is common to other models as well:

That worked, I used a part from A2465 and it is compatible.

Macbook Pro A1990 - Battery not detected after connector torn off
                      by silver60618
Hi Gang, Im working on Macbook Pro A1990, the battery connector was torn off during friend trying to replace battery. I soldered on the connector back, and created traces. The battery does charge (according to amp meter), and does power on battery only. But the signal detect line maybe done incorrectly, and the macbook shows "X" over battery icon, and "Service Recommended" on new battery

Can somebody point me to which of these connector pins is responsible for battery detect/data line? Pin 4 on schematic had a nub on the trace, im not sure if that is important,...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                      by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Macbook Air M1 2020 A2337 - running on reserve battery (without battery)
                      by BMCappelletti
                      Hi everyone.
Quick backgrounhd story: Macbook came to me stuck on 5V. According to repair.wiki I could have an issue on L7800. Indeed it was not passing signal through. And I did have an issue on PP5V_BSTLQ_VOUT_SPMU line. I found a cracked cap (C7800) and replaced both failing components.
Now it negotiates 20V and the computer starts, but I receive the message "you are now running on reserve battery power", as shown on the attached picture. It happens with or without a battery connected. So I am discarding a battery issue, for now (it may be bad, but I will only know for...

Macbook Pro - A2251 - No power when battery is connected
                      by manymonsteras
I am hoping to get some advice. I have a 2020 13" Macbook Pro - A2251 that wouldn't turn on. I have done lots of electronics repair in the past but never on Macbooks. I have had this laptop sitting around and I finally decided to take a look at it and see if I could spring some life into it.

First, it wouldn't boot up at all. I did a DFU restore and managed to get it to power on. Did a full restore but the battery was dead and wouldn't charge. I put in a new battery in it but now it won't boot up when the new battery is connected. I ordered a second new battery just in case,...

                      by mrkmpn
Hello, I have a customer that brought this laptop in after replacing his battery. He said his original battery charge was not lasting long, and after replacing the battery with one purchased from iFixit, the charging worked for about 30 minutes and then stopped, and the battery is no longer detected by windows.

This laptop powers on when the AC adapter is connected, and my USB-C multimeter shows current being used with both ports, but the charging light does not come on, and in Windows the battery icon shows an X as if there is no battery present. If I disconnect the AC adapter,...
