    HP Laptop not charging..

Hi, exactly on the August 2023 i saw a YT video from "electronic repair school" channel, where it says a technique how to recover dead batteries not charging, probably them has been left uncharged for too long and became "locked" by internal circuitry to avoid wrong chargement by laptop, i'm still wondering why every cellular phone also the oldest and cheaper has a built in slow charge modality to avoid danger on li-ion cells, and on laptop i' ve never heard of that option, only stupid lock modes so those are ready for the trash bin, this maybe due to bigger size / more danger, i had also posted some mine thoughts on that video, but unfortunately Sorin has put that video on pay-only user mode, i cannot access it anymore, it said about a way to force charging by esternal PSU directly on the pack by drilling 2 holes, i remember i posted my doubt on that technique as i thought it has to be followed the right maximum current for a low speed security charge until the reachment the minimum value for speed charge mode..
Is there anybody who can guide me to save my laptop battery, maybe with a better way than drilling it or drilling it in the best way to make good contact and less cosmetical damage? Also info on the maximum current? This HP laptop is mine but i own it since 3 days, i havent worked already on it... i have also another laptop with this issue, ok.. bye (thanks)

Before you jump into the battery repair, you need to check the motherboard, the first mosfet and the ones for charging the battery itself, check them on diode mode from source->drain and drain->source also between gate and source/drain. Also check the data lines on the battery connector. I have repaired a few laptops and on modern ones battery issues are not very common.

If you care to read the datasheets for BQ charger IC's, you will find that laptop batteries are indeed slow charged when flat. The amount of time that happens is usually quite short (unless the battery is seriously depleted) as we are charging with a much larger wattage.

A phone battery is a single cell, whereas laptop batteries are multi-cell and far larger capacity. When the controller disables the battery, it's usually because one of the cells voltage is abnormal compared to the others. If the cells chemistry is deemed U/S, then charging it can possibly result in a potential fire. So the whole battery is disabled and you replace it to prevent your laptop catching on fire. It's a safety feature.

I like Sorin, but some of the things he does are complete hacks and are viewed as such by professional techs such as myself. He is directly accessing the cells to charge them in, bypassing the controller. If he want's to set fire to his workbench and his customers laptop then that's on him. But he shouldn't be advising novices with next to no understanding of why these safety features are there to bypass them. I don't personally muck around with dead batteries. They go to the waste management centre and are replaced, simple as that.

Strange! Acer laptop not powering on but charging the battery (orange light on when charger and battery plugged in).
        by serious_electron
        Hello Everyone!

I have an Acer Aspire A315-42 laptop. I generally leave it on for long time by closing down its lid (so it enters the sleep mode). Recently, it rained quite heavily in out area. And the humidity and moisture seem to be high. So one late evening, after I opened the lid and turned on the laptop, it did power on as the blue light turned on but after it booted to the desktop screen, just 5-10 seconds after both the screen and blue light went out and laptop shut down (the blue power light turned orange). And after 2-4 seconds that orange light went off and the laptop died.

ASUS X54H laptop thinks it's always charging even with charger unplugged
        by flat-earther
The charging indicator light on my ASUS X54H laptop is always on even when the charger is disconnected.

Windows also shows ''Plugged in'' when charger is not connected.

This problem started year ago gradually, when unplugging the charger the charging light took several seconds to disappear, then minutes, and now almost always on even when unplugged for an entire day.
Strangely, before sometimes immediately when plugging in the charger the charging light went away, and later came back with it connected.

turns out this component is a diode BAT54CW
        For a power protection circuit
i installed this component and now laptop not charging anymore
its detect the ac adapter but not charging the battery
i removed the component again and know it start charging normaly
i just curious why this happen, i mean it should be there from factory but why when i installed it and it make the laptop not charging?...

        by peter99
        helo everry body!!!
My laptop HP 245 AMD 14-FP5-6L -GDDR5X2 has a battery charging circuit error:
        - If not power on, battery charge ok.
        - if i turn on the power, not charging the battery ( the battery charging indicator light, from yellow to white)
The laptop only charges when not turned on. I have changed the battery and charger, but the situation remains unchanged.
I replaced the BQ 25A charging IC but the device only charges when not turned on.
everyone please help me with solution, what should i do ?
        thanks a lot !!!!!...
